Jharkhand, a heavenly state of Bharat, was established in the year 2000. Known for its rich diversity in culture, languages, arts, handicrafts, traditions, folk practices, and housing 80% of Bharat's mineral resources, Jharkhand stands as a unique state. In 2016, the Jharkhand Government introduced the Jharkhand Film Policy to boost the film industry within the state. This policy provides various
subsidies and support for filmmakers across India. Organizing an International Film Festival in the state is a key part of this policy, aimed at promoting Jharkhand’s picturesque locations as ideal sites for film shooting. Under the leadership of Rishi Prakash Mishra, an Executive Member of the Jharkhand Film Development Advisory Board, the first Jharkhand International Film Festival & Awards (JIFFA) was organized in 2018 by Navbharat Nirman Sangh, an NGO, with support from the Jharkhand Government, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Skill Mission of India, IMPPA, and the Directorate of Film Festivals of India.
