Sahaj works towards awareness generation and capacity building of communities, trying to simplify complex government schemes and procedures and ways to improve their impact on the lives of people by people’s own collective efforts. Sahaj plays the role of a mobiliser, catalyst, facilitator and capacity building agent. The community groups identify the issues in their respective villages and make p
rioritized plan of action to address them. Awareness is a process of education and we have two main strategies for Awareness Generation:
1. Educate yourself and 2. For educating community we are promoting 'Manthan Kendras'. MANTHAN KENDRAS
"Discuss and share in the community so that not just you learn, someone else learns as well." Sahaj has promoted the idea of Manthan Kendra or reading rooms in every village. Manthan kendras are spaces in the village which get at least two news papers and few journals. The process of awareness generation can become self sustaining only when there are some institutional mechanisms in place in every community that provides opportunities to community volunteers to keep updating themselves. Manthan Kendras are beginning to play a critical role of catalysts by bringing together people and spreading a wave of awareness from it. For Educating children we
Identify out of school children. Sensitise parents
Network and advocacate with schools
Do capacity building of parents groups
Do Advocacy for implementation of RTE norms in intervention schools
Sensitisate about issues of child labour, trafficking and other violations of Child Rights
Advocating for playgrounds
And to support all this work we have "Sahaj Solutions" that provides answers to issues through research, training, capacity building and knowledge sharing support on issues related to the community. With a constant need to provide information and build capacity of the volunteers and the team, research, documentation and Training is an important support the work requires. A very experienced pool of trainers and researchers are with this team.
