BAIF Livelihoods - Jharkhand is committed to promoting sustainable livelihoods for the rural poor with an innovative and integrated approach to rural development and environmental conservation. The flexibility of the programmes enables BAIF Livelihoods to serve the most disadvantaged by addressing the specific needs of each family, village and local area. Community participation is the foundation

of all the programmes. Livestock Development Programme is the major program of BAIF Livelihoods, which is spread across all the states listed above. It aims at improving the livestock breed through artificial insemination for enhanced production. Promotion of goat husbandry and backyard poultry is encouraged especially for landless, small and marginal farmers.

2. Transfer of agricultural technologies, productivity enhancement and crop diversification.

3. Multi-activity approach for poverty alleviation.

4. Women's empowerment, functional literacy and improved quality of life.

5. Formation and strengthening of local institutions (SHGs/POs). In today's changing needs , BISLD is striving to keep abreast with relevant technologies such as s*x sorted semen, climate change adaptation and is thus poised to meet the development challenges of tomorrow.

BAIF, with its vast experience in sustainable agrifood systems aimed at food and livelihood security, will be hosting a High Segment Dialogue on Climate Smart Pathways in Sustainable Agrifood Systems at the TERRE Global Carbon Council Pavilion F3 in Blue Zone. The event will see participation of eminent speakers and subject experts from reputed organizations across the globe.

Dr. Bharat Kakade, President, BAIF will moderate the session. Dr. Vitthal Kauthale, Chief Thematic Programme Executive - Farm Research and Seed Programme, BAIF, will speak on Nature Positive Solutions for Sustainable Farming and Ms. Sneha Shinde, Thematic Programme Executive, BAIF, will speak on Climate-Smart Agriculture - BAIF experience. BAIF speakers along with the panelists, will deliberate on the challenges in agrifood systems and the potential for adoption of climate smart and resilient pathways by smallholders.

BAIF awarded National Water Award
October 22, 2024| Hon. President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu awarded the 5th National Water Awards 2023 for โ€œBest Civil Societyโ€ to BAIF Development Research Foundation, Pune, represented by Dr. Bharat Kakade, President and Managing Trustee and Mr. Waman Kulkarni, Chief Thematic Programme Executive - Natural Resources Management and Climate Action, at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, today. Also present on the dais were Shri. C.R. Paatil, Hon. Minister for Jal Shakti, Shri. V. Somanna, Hon. Minister of State for Jal Shakti & Railways and Shri. Raj Bhushan Choudhary, Hon. Minister of State for Jal Shakti.
The award announced by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, recognised the innovative water conservation and management measures promoted by BAIF on 7816 hectares impacting 16,970 families from 115 villages in 12 states.
