Sunaayy Foundation

Sunaayy Foundation Sunaayy Foundation is a Non Profit Organization established in 2009 to empower underprivileged children through education

Our mission - “Read to Succeed”!

“Sunaay”stems from the word "Suneeti". It is an initiative of like-minded individuals who have agreed to work towards a common cause, to empower underprivileged, uneducated children to live meaningful and self-reliant lives. Based out of New Delhi, India, we are involved with imparting primary education through an outdoor makeshift,multi-graded interactive lear

ning programme for underprivileged children aged between 2 -12 years.

“Sunaay” endeavours to ignite the minds of less fortunate children and spark a desire in them to learn. We use non conventional, easy to relate tools to help them understand the basic concepts of Hindi, English (both spoken and written) and maths. We also educate them on matters of personal hygiene and social environment.

“Sunaay” also funds the education of few children aged (2 yrs-12 yrs) and have enrolled them in regular schools. We monitor their progress in school and provide learning assistance on a continual basis. In addition to the learning programes, we provide the children with a daily nutritious mid-morning supplement. Our doctor friends have joined hands for this cause and volunteer to conduct regular health check-ups for the children. We appreciate our family and friends for believing in us and contributing food, clothing, cash and devoting time for the children of Sunaay.

Today, on , was not just about learning, it was about doing.

Our children came together with the elders of the local community and senior citizens to meaningfully engage and internalise the meaning of conservation. With guidance from those who have nurtured this environment for years, they didn’t just talk about change, they practoced it with joy.

Together, we reflected on three simple yet powerful practices:

🌿 Care for nature— nurture trees, plants, animals and the world around us
🧹 Own our civic responsibility — keep our surroundings clean and respectful
🔁 Carry it forward — practice these values daily and pass them on

By planting these ideas early, we hope they grow, to be more conscious, responsible individuals.

Because change begins young, and grows with time.

Women Leading Change though Discipline, Dignity & Learning

In the small green village of Dikdon in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, a quiet but powerful transformation is taking shape, led by women.

What makes this learning centre stand out is not just access to education for 60+ children (ages 5–14), but the strong culture of discipline, neatness, and collective pride it has nurtured.

Two young women from the village lead the centre as teachers with deep commitment and dignity. They have consciously adopted a simple but powerful practice, wearing matching sarees as a uniform, reinforcing a sense of structure, identity, and professionalism in a community setting.

The children mirror this culture. They arrive neatly dressed, punctual, and prepared, bringing their homework, participating actively, and engaging in structured, activity-based learning with seriousness and joy.

What is emerging in Dikdon is more than a learning space, it is a reflection of how discipline, dress code, and everyday neatness can shape attitude, aspiration, and environment. It shows how community-led initiatives, when rooted in consistency and care, can become powerful ecosystems of change.

A simple centre. A meaningful shift.

We are proud to share that Sunaayy Foundation has once again been selected to participate in the Annual Meeting 2026.

This year, our Commitment to Action on community-led climate engagement across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand will once again be in the spotlight.

Through our Village Learning Centers , we have been working with children, women, and communities to strengthen awareness, behaviour change, and everyday environmental responsibility, from waste management and climate learning to compassion and safe coexistence with animals.

As we move forward, we remain committed to building stronger community-led ecosystems for sustainable climate action.

Grateful to every partner, supporter, and community that made this possible. This spotlight belongs to all of us. 🙏🏽

Education becomes more meaningful when children are allowed to create, imagine, and express freely. Art is not just about drawing or painting, it is a powerful learning tool that shapes emotional, cognitive, and social development.

Research by highlights that children engaged in education show stronger creative and critical thinking, better academic performance, improved classroom behaviour, and higher resilience. The World Health Organization () also emphasises that early childhood experiences involving creativity, emotional expression, and interactive learning play a critical role in long-term learning, confidence, and social development.

Through art, children naturally develop essential life skills that go beyond the classroom. It helps them think independently and solve problems creatively, while also giving them the confidence to express emotions and ideas freely. Creative learning environments encourage collaboration, empathy, and stronger social connection, while also improving focus, self-esteem, and emotional resilience. As children engage in artistic expression, they become more active, motivated, and connected learners.

For children from underserved communities, art becomes more than an educational activity, it becomes a bridge between learning and self-belief. A simple paintbrush, story, or craft session can open doors that traditional methods alone often cannot, helping children discover identity, voice, and possibility.

At Sunaayy Foundation, every artwork created by a child is more than a classroom output, it is a voice, a dream, and a meaningful step toward confidence, dignity, and opportunity. 💛

Richa Prasant represented Sunaayy Foundation at a powerful and deeply relevant dialogue on Women’s Digital Health and Gender Equity in Healthcare, hosted by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Research IIR, in partnership with Sabudh Foundation and Tatras Data.

The session featured an impactful keynote by Dr. Vanathi Gopalakrishnan, PhD - Associate Professor of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Pittsburgh and Founder Director of the Pittsburgh VIHAR Center. Dr. Vanathi’s insights into the Digital Health Twin Global Alliance and her innovative Digital Health Twin Program offered a compelling vision of how research and technology can positively transform women’s health outcomes globally, especially when built with inclusion and lived realities at the core. Dr Vanathi also took the time to visit Sunaayy’s urban center at Delhi and see the work on ground. It was heartwarming and encouraging to have her among us and learn from her experiences.

At Sunaayy, we witness these challenges closely every day. Richa Prasant shared powerful grassroots insights on the barriers women from underserved communities face, from hesitation in seeking preventive healthcare to discrimination during routine check-ups, and the deep gap between medical narratives and lived experiences. What made the session even more meaningful was that women empowered by Sunaayy also stepped forward to share their journeys, speaking openly about their challenges and how Sunaayy’s interventions over the years have supported them in navigating healthcare access with greater awareness, confidence, and dignity.

The conversation was further strengthened by the insights of seasoned leaders like Dr. Nidhi Pundhir, Senior Vice President – Global CSR at the HCL Foundation. Her data-driven perspective brought clarity on how women’s health is quantified, measured, and evaluated, and why strong evidence-backed frameworks are essential to address systemic healthcare inequities.

Adding an equally valuable dimension was the perspective of young scholars like Manya Khanna, who shared her fresh understanding of women’s health and the evolving lens through which the next generation views gender and healthcare challenges.

A proud milestone for us was also signing an Agreement of Collaboration between Sunaayy Foundation and IIR, marking a shared commitment to work in congruence in the field of research and social impact, and to strengthen pathways where evidence-based research meets community-led action.

Grateful to IIR for creating a platform that bridges academia, innovation, and grassroots realities, and for ensuring that women’s voices remain central to the conversation.

and Big shoutout to Anirban Chakraborti , Dr. Sarabjot Singh and Dr Ganesh Mani

Why do we teach poetry to children?
Because poetry does what textbooks often can't: it gives them a voice.

As Dead Poets Society reminds us: “𝗪𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲.”

At Sunaayy's rural learning centres, we go beyond recitation. Poetry builds language, confidence, imagination, and the courage to express raw, authentic feelings.

Watch this little girl recite "𝙃𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝘿𝙚𝙨𝙝 𝙆𝙚 𝙉𝙞𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙞", a timeless Hindi poem on oneness and unity. Penned and sung by Padma Shri awardee Vinay Chandra Maudgalya, it celebrates India's unity in diversity. 𝗔 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀, 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲.

At Sunaayy, every child's thoughts matter.
Their voice matters.
Their words deserve space.

🎥 A beautiful glimpse from our centre.

When mothers are supported, they don’t choose between worlds, they build them together.

Babita Kushwaha’s journey with Sunaayy began in February 2020, when she was a young mother trying to rebuild her working life in Delhi while caring for her children. She has two daughters then. Her youngest, Shiva - born in Dec 2021, is a playful little boy, curious, imaginative, and always asking about fairies, often seen tagging along as she stepped into a classroom.

Like countless mothers, Babita carried a constant responsibility: how to earn, how to care, and how to keep putting bread on the table, without having to leave her children behind.

At Sunaayy, she found something rare, a workplace that didn’t ask her to separate motherhood from work. Her children are never treated as an obstacle. With support from her team, Babita is able to teach while keeping them close. Shiva became part of her everyday rhythm, sitting beside her, wandering through learning spaces, and slipping into his own little world where fairies and classrooms existed side by side.

Her journey was not easy. She faced deep personal loss, health challenges, and a difficult recovery period. Yet, through it all, she has stayed connected to her work, with the help of a team that stood beside her.

Over time, she grew beyond the classroom, moving into observation and digital learning, strengthening her skills and confidence. Slowly, survival turned into stability, and stability into pride.

Today, Babita is not just managing responsibilities, she is building learning spaces, growing in strength, and holding her children and her career with dignity.

This mother's day, watch her full story.

06/05/2026

When asked about her dreams, she answers simply and softly:
“𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑛 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑘 𝑤𝑒𝑙𝑙, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑓𝑖𝑑𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒.”

Here is a story of little Priyanshi!

In a small village in Uttar Pradesh, 10-year-old Priyanshi Dubey carries an unusual strength. Her father, Mahendra Ji, works long hours in manual labour, while her mother, Shashi Ji, supports the family as a domestic worker. Despite their modest circumstances, Priyanshi’s world is full of curiosity and ambition.

At home, she naturally steps into the role of an elder sister, guiding her 6-year-old sibling, Anushka, toward books and learning, often reminding her that education can open doors beyond their surroundings.

Since joining the Sunaayy Foundation in November 2025, Priyanshi has transformed from a shy learner into a confident and capable student. She reads fluently, writes with remarkable clarity, and her handwriting reflects a rare discipline for her age. Yet it is through her drawings ... bright, expressive, and deeply imaginative, that her inner world truly comes alive.

At Sunaayy, she has also been learning through our Linux-based open-source digital learning platform, where one central server powers multiple systems. The curriculum spans mathematics, languages, digital literacy, coding basics, typing, and design skills, with real-time tracking to support each child’s progress.

🌟 In rural Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, where distance and scarce resources limit dreams, Sunaayy Foundation's learning centers are opening worlds!

Watch these village kids eagerly practicing English, guided by committed community teachers in our double-teacher model.

It's not about upholding one global language; it's about exposure and choice, equipping them to be globally ready, knock on more doors, and explore brighter futures while honoring their roots.

Consistent support turns challenges into hope!
