RDSWS: A Journey of Empowering Women & Transforming Communities
Since 1990, Raipur Diocesan Social Welfare Society (RDSWS) has been empowering women in rural Chhattisgarh, especially among Dalit, Adivasi, and economically vulnerable communities, creating opportunities where there was once exclusion and silence. Through MahilaMandals and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), women have gained confidence, leadership skills, financial support, and sustainable livelihood opportunities across nine districts.
Since 2021, nearly 250 Women Federations have been actively helping vulnerable families’ access government welfare schemes, benefiting more than 12,000 families. RDSWS has also promoted 26 women’s cooperative societies and 18MahilaPanchayatMandis (FPOs), supporting fair income, local employment, and economic self-reliance. Women federations are also actively involved in addressing issues related to education, sanitation, and nutrition within their communities.
The organization continues to encourage sustainable practices such as kitchen gardening, tree plantation, Mahila Gram Sabha and Gram Sabha to strengthen community participation and environmental care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, women federations organized community food banks and relief support for vulnerable families. Today, these food banks continue to function actively, reaching out to those in need.
Their journey is not only about development — it is about dignity, resilience, participation, and creating a future where every woman can lead with confidence and every community can thrive with equality and hope.
Today, women leaders nurtured
through RDSWS continue to inspire social change by building stronger, inclusive, and self-reliant communities.
