A small part of has been segregated and all other waste has been dumping there. This dumping area is surrounded by about 100 houses where they face series of health problems. The entire area is facing odor and lichet is directly reaching to the ground water. Rotary Club Puttur East

Rotary club Puttur East Chartered in the year 1995 and rendered many valuable services to the society. It is running one music school since 2001 and Down syndrome. It established well equipped lab in Sandeepani school with the cost of 11 lakhs. Rotary Club Puttur East submitted detailed project proposal as integrated waste management Project. The City Muncipal council approved in their board meeting and forwarded to the District Collector Mangalore. He studied the project proposal and approved to proceed. As part of the further steps The Rotary club Puttur east and City Municipal Council signed an agreement for 15 years. Further it will be renewed. Project Component:
The entire activity consists two parts:-Wet waste management and Dry waste management. A. Wet waste management
To manage wet waste, we planned to set up Compressed Bio gas plant, in the capacity of 20 tones. In this process we can manage wet fasts like food waste, vegetable waste, w**d cuttings, sewage waste etc. All waste will be produce bio gas in a digester and that gas will be purified through modern technology. The final product will be compressed Bio gas. This gas can be sold to Vehicles, hotels or to Oil companies Under SAATA programme. slurry will be a byproduct , it can also be sold. Projected capacity is 20 tonnes per day. B. Dry waste management: plasma gasification
It is very important to manage dry waste also. At present major part of dry waste is dumping in the dumping yard. This can also be converted as usable gas component through Plasma Gasification. Here we can use all the dry waste including sanitary waste.
2. Process of the Project
City Municipal Council will supply segregated waste and if it is not met the requirement they will arrange waste from nearby local bodies. City Municipal council already agreed to Provide 2 acres of land to install the Machineries. To manage the entire project systematically there will be a Qualified Project Director and separate trust registered under Rotary club Puttur East named as Rotary club Putur East swachbharath trust.
3. Management. The above mentioned swachabharath trust will manage he entire project. The trust has President, Secretary , Treasurer and Directors who are all from Rotary Club Puttur East past Presidents and office bearers.
4. Project Cost:
Entire Project is divided in to two parts :
1. Compressed Bio gas Project it costs about 4.5 crores
2. Plasma gasification Unit: Project cost is 5.5 crores
5. Sustainability:
There is potential market for compressed bio gas. So the invested amount will generate revenue to manage the whole project. Once it is invested this will be sustain through this revenue generation. PROJECT COST for Wet Waste Management – Bio Gas Project
