Pushkar Children Trust is an Indian NGO situated in the city of Pushkar, Rajsthan. The project started back in 2013 and aims to help some of the poorest children in the city with education and health care. It’s run both by locals and foreigners and currently help more than 50 children and their families. The children are sponsored to go to private school by private sponsors from all over the world. Every day we host a homework and play tuition and make a hot meal for the children. We also help to take care of basic needs like clothes, shoes, dental care ect. The project is open 6 days a week. Every day we host homework tuition classes for our children when they are free from private school. All classes are run by our sweet Madam, who has known the children for years. As the children’s parents all are illiterate it is essential that we help and motivate the children with the school. After tuition we all eat a meal together. It's important for the children to get this extra meal with rice, vegetables, beans and lentils everyday. This ensures that the children get all essential nutrients as they are all malnourished from childhood. Besides food and education we aim to give the children a "free space" where they are aloud to be children and to be creative. Our children have a really hard life with many responsibilities from a young age. Many of them are still begging in the market after school to secure an income for their family. We play music with the children, dance with them, make drawings, watch movies and play different games, puzzles and sports activities.
Every month we support all families with children enrolled in the project, with a food-package consisting of rice, flour, lentils and oil. As the families have a very low, almost not existing income, this food package is a great help and ensures that the children also get food at home.
