by 2030 Initiative Launches at Devi Rookery in Odisha Coast.
We are proud to announce the launch of our ambitious Million Mangroves by 2030 initiative at the ecologically significant Devi Rookery. The program was inaugurated by esteemed chief guests Smt. Adyasha Satpathy , CEO of The Dharitri & The Orissapost, and Shri Tathagata Satpathy , Editor-in-Chief, alongside local leaders including Sarpanch Shri Ramachandra Kandi, conservation heroes Bichi Bhai (Biju Patnaik Wildlife Awardee) and Charu Maa (Indian Biodiversity Award Winner), along with over 70 PRI members, fishemen, youth leaders, and community representatives.
This decade-long mission aims to plant one million mangroves by 2030 to restore the vital ecosystems of the Devi River Mouth, still recovering from the devastating 1999 Super Cyclone. Our approach uniquely blends traditional ecological knowledge with scientific methods to create sustainable solutions that protect coastal communities,from climate impacts while supporting local livelihoods & revive Wetlands.
The "Million Mangroves by 2030" initiative by Odisha Paryavaran Sanrakshan Abhiyan Trust, Sabuja Sakha Astaranga, Odia Daily the Dharitri Odia Daily , and the OrissaPOST is a heartfelt effort to restore Odisha’s mangroves—nature’s silent protectors.
