Asha Care Trust has begun mental health and skill-development sessions at Grace Home in partnership with Harbor Society. The embroidery sessions are being conducted with Impulse NGO Network. Around 12 daughters of survivors, from school and college, are taking part. They are learning embroidery, receiving pocket money, and gaining skills that support financial awareness and independent living. The sessions also create space for mental health support, confidence, and income generation.

Asha Care Trust has been running a tailoring and embroidery vocational training centre in Budhwar Peth, providing survivors of human trafficking and women currently engaged in s*x work with an opportunity to learn practical skills and experience the value of dignified work.

Through its partnership with Impulse NGO Network under the Impulse Case Management Centre (ICMC), this existing programme has expanded to include paid livelihood opportunities. Participants are learning hand embroidery on handwoven textiles, creating traditional Naga Spear motifs that are transformed into embroidered dining napkins. This initiative strengthens confidence, supports sustainable livelihoods, and empowers women to build a more independent future through skill, craftsmanship, and meaningful employment.

Asha Care Trust, in partnership with Pune Police, organized a training session on 7th May focused on understanding body language in policing and strengthening victim-sensitive response systems.

Post the session, IPS DCP Zone 1, Krushikesh Rawale, was felicitated for his guidance, leadership, and support in conducting this impactful training initiative. Certificates were presented by Sir to Mrs. Nirmala Walter, Founder and Social Worker, Manobal Foundation, and Mr. Gaurav Gill, Body Language Expert. Meaningful discussions regarding victim support cases and policing responses were also held with Sir following the training. Group photographs and certification moments with the officers marked the conclusion of the session.

On 7th May, Asha Care Trust, in partnership with Pune Police, conducted a training session at Faraskhana Police Station on “Understanding Body Language in Policing and Strengthening Victim-Sensitive Response” under the guidance of Mr. Krushikesh Rawale, IPS, DCP Zone 1, Pune.

Around 39 women police officers from Faraskhana, Vishrambaug, Khadak, Samarth, Shivajinagar Police Stations, Crime Branch, and AHTU participated in the session.

The Body Language session was conducted by Mr. Gaurav Gill, while the Victim Care session was led by Mrs. Nirmala Walter, Founder of Manobal Foundation, New Delhi.

We appreciate these women for the work they do every single day, often without recognition, but with immense impact.

Conceptualized by A21 and implemented by Movement India, the Walk for Freedom in Pune was led locally by District Legal Services Authority Pune, Justice Ventures India, Asha Care Trust, Neighbors Media Team, and Saife Ambulance Services.

The walk was flagged off by Hon’ble Shri Mahesh Mahajan, Chairperson and Principal District & Sessions Judge, District Legal Services Authority Pune, followed by Mrs. Revati Deshpande, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Pune.

The walk covered approximately one kilometre, beginning at Damodar Wagaskar Garden, proceeding towards ABC Chowk (the bridge), returning via North Main Road, and concluding within Koregaon Park, Pune.

Every step stood for freedom. Every voice stood against human trafficking.

An awareness walk where we walked in single file, standing in solidarity with victims of human trafficking. One student shared, “I didn’t know there were so many types of trafficking. This walk made me aware of how big and lucrative it is. We must stand against it.” A simple walk, but a powerful reminder that awareness matters.

This was a non-commercial, non-religious, and non-political walk. A call for corporate institutions, educational institutions, families, and local residents to come together and be part of a widespread movement of awareness against human trafficking.

This walk was spearheaded by District Legal Service Authority, Justice Ventures India, Asha Care Trust, Neighbors Media Team, and Saifee Ambulance Service in Pune, Maharashtra.
