Woman and Water management Workshop(16th March 2013)
The 1 day workshop at Swaroop Vardhini was executed on 16th March 2013. The workshop was organized by Shakti, Swaroop vardhini and Shashwat Eco solution Foundation. There were around 150 woman participated in the workshop. The woman participation was appreciable. There were some woman from medical background, professors & weaker sector. The mai
n focus of workshop was to include weaker sector of woman on WORLD WATER DAY and explain them the reuse of waste water. The workshop was sponsored by Patondekar Jewellers. The chief guest was Mrs. Jailaxmi Chekhala (Ex Secretary, Water and Sanitation dept, Government of Maharashtra). The workshop was carried by Group work activities. The topics for group work were:
a. Health and Water
b. Water pollution
c. Water Conservation and
d. Food & Security
Woman participated in the group work and presented the topics nicely. Documentaries of Eco-friendly Ganesh festivals and Rain water harvesting were shown. The workshop ended with the vote of thanks and way forward. The workshop was appreciated by all and expected more types of workshop in future on large scale.
2. Workshop on Sustainable Sanitation practises with Department of water and sanitation , Government of Maharashtra(9th August 2012)
Workshop was organized by Department of water and sanitation, GoM and Co-organized by Shashwat Eco Solution Foundation, Pune. This workshop was executed at Maharashtra Environment Engineering Training Research Academy (MEETRA) NASIK on 9th August 2012. The target audience were delegates from council, Panchayat & Zillha Parishad. The purpose of workshop was to provide different alternatives and approaches for sustainable sanitation at the decision makers at Panchayat, Municipal Council and Zilha Parishad level and motivate them to develop their own ex*****on planner for Sustainable Sanitation in their Jurisdiction which can further replicate in other villages or cities. It was one day workshop. Presentations on Sustainable Sanitation Approach including IEC, Community led practices, Water and Sanitation Asset Management – Technology Overview with O and M aspect, Legal and financial Aspects of Sanitation, ICT application for Water and Sanitation etc were presented by Shashwat Expert team.
3. IEC activity at Tribal School of Thakurwadi Village at Shedashi, Pen Taluka, Maharashtra, India on 6th June 2013. Shashwat EcoSolution Foundation organized IEC activity at Thakurwadi, Shedashi Village with tribal school students on 6th June 2013. 20 students participated in the IEC program. The main objective of the program was to give insight knowledge on ecological sanitation, water conservation, and health and hygiene aspects. IEC was carried out in the form of games with the students. Games were created like paper fan making, Drawing and how to wash hands to convey them messages to take care of the environment and themselves. By means of entertainment, the students imbibed the importance of sanitation, clean environment, proper use of water etc.
4. IEC program for Tribal Woman at Thakurwadi Village, Pen Taluka, Maharashtra, India on 6th June 2013. Shashwat EcoSolution Foundation organized a IEC workshop for tribal woman from Thakurwadi Village. This village is having 100% open defecation practise. Woman follows open defecation practice. 50 women participated in the IEC workshop. Presentations on personal hygiene, use of toilets were put forth. Woman expressed their problems with the team and mentioned that water scarcity is the main problem. As water availability will be there then construct toilet will take place. The workshop went good.
5. Eco Friendly Diwali Lantern preparation workshop with students at Indradhanushya Environment Centre of PMC, Pune (November 2013)
This workshop was done in association with Indradhanushya an Environment centre of Pune Municipal Corporation and. In this workshop around 36 students participated. The main motivation of this workshop to raise awareness among students to celebrate Diwali in eco friendly way and training with the help of Students has been conducted for making of Eco – Lantern (Kandil) with eco-friendly material. Projects:
1. Eco-friendly Diwali sponsored by Purplechai (8th November 2012)
Shashwat Eco Soultion Foundation & Swaroopvardhini initiated and executed this Eco-Diwali Festival project for weaker sector woman and for next generation. The main purpose of this project is to spread awareness among citizen about the noise pollution, air pollution due to burning of crackers and to use eco friendly & decorative light lamps. This project gives employment to weaker sector. Shashwat give promotion to Eco-Friendly festivals. This Eco-friendly Diwali project was sponsored by Woman entrepreneur Mrs. Vaishali Sharma(CEO , PurpleChai) & Designing of Light lamps was also done by Woman entrepreneur Mrs. Manik Trifale. In this project the role of Swaroop Vardhini was to make and sale the light lamps. In this 30-35 students and woman participated. The light lamps were made by recycled paper. Therefore the light lamps are eco-friendly.
2. Eco-Ganesh Festival 2011 and 2012 in association with Maharashtra Pollution Control Board
Location: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction
Train of Trainer program’ participants were selected by approaching drawing teachers of general schools and teacher or extra curriculum activity trainers in the schools and other interested members in the society. Identified WSHG groups in the jurisdiction of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Communicated the local corporators and group leaders to identify selected interested women. The selected women were interviewed to understand their genuine interest and then finalised. In case of target group of prisoners the request was made to Prison Authority and the participating prisoners were selected by them. Similarly the schools for Physically Handicapped Students and general students were asked to select the students and the drawing teachers for respective training programs of Idols or Decorations. Women Self Help Group and Physically challenged schools are very much willing to initiate making of eco friendly decorations and idols. Parents of physically challenged schools expressed their positive support and they informed that their child was very enthusiastic while doing this activity and demanded it on coming years.
3. Eco Friendly Festival Campaign on the occasion of World Water Day with D.E Society – 22nd March 2012
Shashwat Eco-Solution Foundation, environmental NGO initiated Eco Friendly Festival Campaign and Water security measures project in Pune in association with very renowned Institute Deccan Education Society through Environment Department of Fergusson College on the occasion of World Water Day on 22nd March 2012. Target group were all schools under DE Society in Pune – Ahilya Devi, Raman Baug and New English School of standard 6th, 7th & 8th.Documentaries on Eco- ganesh festival & water Conservation was shown. Drawing competition for 6th Std student was done on the topic of Eco Friendly Ganesh Festival- alternative & options. Slogan competition for 7th Std on water conservation was also executed. Power point presentation competition on food security was done with 8th Std students. Students participated actively in the programs and demanded more type of activities in future.
4. Rain Water harvesting Project at Muktai Society, Karve Nagar, Pune (Feb 2014 - Ongoing project)
Shashwat Eco Solution Foundation in association with Cummins India Pvt Ltd..is doing rain water Harvesting project together. In this project recharging of bore well is with percolation pit. There are total 36 flats having 144 population who are the beneficiaries of project. Potential for Roof top Rainwater Harvesting through bore well recharging is 16,20,000 litres in every monsoon
5. Rahotli Green Village project near Badlapur, Mumbai (Jan 2014 - Ongoing)
