Partnering with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI), Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) is implementing the Better Cotton Programme to promote sustainable, eco-friendly cotton farming in rural India.

As part of the programme, Rashida Bhaiji, Director – Farm Quality Implementation & Partnership, Better Cotton, visited the project areas in Nandurbar and Dhule (Maharashtra) last week to observe the programme activities. Interacting with the farmers there, Ms. Rashida visited cotton demonstration plots, inspected crop diversification plots, checked the progress on dam repair work and explored agri-based enterprises like sticky traps, nurseries and Jaivik Ghar.

The visit provided an opportunity to understand farmers’ experiences more closely, observe the adoption of sustainable farming practices, and learn from the work being carried out across the project areas.

LHWRF continues to build ways to connect field-level experiences with programme implementation, nurturing a learning and collaborative approach towards building more resilient cotton farming communities.

Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) organised a two-day session on “Enhancing Presentation Skills”. In Pune , the session brought together learning, practice, and a fresh perspective on what makes a presentation truly impactful. It covered the use of contemporary presentation tools, including the responsible use of AI, alongside other essential skills such as voice modulation and tone, body language and presence, compelling storytelling, and audience engagement.

Through practical exercises and hands-on learning, the session encouraged participants to look beyond the slides and focus on how ideas are communicated, stories are narrated and audiences are kept engaged.

Our signature 𝐆𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬’ 𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦, an exclusive space for school and college-going adolescent girls to talk about menstrual health and have access to a safe and private environment for menstrual hygiene management, has now reached Bicholim taluka in North Goa. Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, and Site Head and Vice President of Lupin Limited, Mr. Jitendra Rane, inaugurated the dedicated space for door-to-door collection of sanitary waste at Harvalem Village Panchayat. A sanction letter for opening the Girls’ Pink Room at Government College, Sanquelim was also handed over. Additionally, to mark National Sports Day, young athletes and sportspersons were recognized for their excellence. At the same time, government primary schools received sports kits as a way to boost participation in sports and physical activities among children.

Because Care Should Never Feel Far Away

For many rural communities, timely healthcare can depend on how far the nearest health facility is. The Lives Programme is helping bridge that distance. Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) Lives programme launched its 4th Mobile Medical Van (MMV) to serve communities across the Palghar and Dahanu blocks of Maharashtra, extending the reach of essential primary healthcare services. The MMV will provide doctor consultations, free medicines and diagnostic services, helping people receive medical attention without having to travel long distances to access routine care.

The event was graced by Shri Manoj Ranade, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Palghar; Ms. Tushara Shankar, CSR Head, LHWRF; Dr. Santosh Chaudhari, District Health Officer, Palghar; Dr. Nachiket Sule, DGM, Lives; Mr. Rajendra Firke, Head & GM, Research & Development, Lupin Ltd., Tarapur; and Mr. Anand Dalvi, Senior Manager.

The initiative reflects the continued collaboration between LHWRF and the Public Health Department, Palghar, towards building a stronger and more responsive healthcare system at the community level.

𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀

This , Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) led a nationwide initiative across 10+ regions to promote balanced diets, fight malnutrition, and build healthier futures. Here’s a snapshot of how we observed the week across taluks and districts in over 5 states:

Playing Snakes & Ladders: Using interactive play, we engaged with over 2,500 children across Vizag, Tarapur, Nagpur, Dhule, and Nandurbar through nutrition-themed Snake & Ladder games. Ladders represented healthy habits, while snakes represented unhealthy nutrition habits. Additionally, we also organized drawing competitions, handwashing demos, and fun educational sessions, making sure that kids enjoy learning why it is necessary to eat healthy food from a young age.

Combatting Child Malnutrition: We distributed specialized Nutrition Kits to hundreds of children with children with severe and moderate levels of acute malnutrition in Ankleshwar, Mandideep, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Dhar.

Offering Nutritional Support: We provided specialized Nutritious Food Baskets to over 400 Tuberculosis (TB) patients in Nagpur, Dhar, and Pune in collaboration with local health departments to aid their recovery journey.

Promoting home-grown Nutrition: We distributed vegetable seeds in Jammu to promote local kitchen gardens and sustainable access to fresh, home-grown nutrition. Additionally, we hosted awareness workshops on balanced diets, maternal care, and healthy lifestyles in Alwar, Jammu, and Dhar.

We are grateful to local administration leaders, health officers, Anganwadi workers, and countless community members whose collaboration made LHWRF initiatives a grand success!

Welcoming a distinguished international delegation from the German embassy and (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH), representatives from Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation accompanied them in understanding our Agriculture-Based Livelihood Empowerment (ABLE) Project better. Using street play as an interactive starting point to better understand the project’s integrated approach, delegates learned how ABLE Project was strengthening rural livelihoods through better crop productivity, healthier soils, efficient water use, improved livestock health and stronger market linkages.

The delegation visited farmer demonstration sites, witnessed practical interventions across dairy and bitter gourd cultivation from improved animal health, hygiene and feed management to Integrated Nutrient Management (INM), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), drip irrigation and trellis-based cultivation.

For many people in underserved communities, healthcare access is hindered by a lack of transportation infrastructure. But what if healthcare could go to them?

Launched in 2022 as the Desh Bandhu Jan Aarogya Seva, the 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 is dedicated to improving healthcare access and quality of life in undeserving communities. At the mission’s center lies Mobile Medical Van (MVV)s.

Equipped with doctors, diagnostic tools and free medicines, MMVs provide accessible healthcare solutions to reach people before their undiagnosed conditions shave off years of their life.

The MMV camps and community based screenings have made it possible for us at LHWRF to provide timely diagnoses for cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic respiratory conditions, among others.

Through these continued efforts, Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation continues to address critical healthcare gaps. One screening, one diagnosis, one life at a time.

The session encouraged meaningful conversations around inclusion, diversity, empathy and understanding diverse perspectives. With 35 team members actively participating, the workshop provided an opportunity to reflect on everyday experiences and explore how we can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable workplace.

DEI is not a one-time conversation, but an ongoing journey of learning and growth.
