As crops grow, they draw nutrients from the soil. Keeping the soil healthy and restoring these nutrients is an important part of sustainable farming. One way of supporting this is through the use of bio-inputs. Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation in partnership with GIZ India, under the Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security (Pro- Soil) project, supported the establishment of a BioProm unit in Samudrapur Taluka, Wardha district through Swayam Siddha Community Managed Resource Centre (CMRs). The unit was established with joint support from GIZ and LHWRF, including BioProm machinery, technical training, infrastructure, raw materials, unit setup, business planning and exposure visits.

The unit converts slurry and solid waste into useful agricultural inputs. The slurry can be used as a natural crop-protection input, while the solid component is processed into BioProm.

Around 6 quintals of BioProm are produced every day and sold to farmers at Rs.30 per kg. Farmers are using it in their fields and their kitchen gardens. The unit is gradually growing into a local enterprise, creating value from waste while supporting sustainable farming.

On the occasion of Indiaโ€™s 80th Independence Day, Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) was honoured for its contributions towards community development and social well-being.

LHWRF was felicitated by the Frontier Headquarters, Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu, in recognition of its efforts towards the welfare and upliftment of BSF personnel, as well as its contribution to promoting tourism and community development in the region.

The felicitation was presented by Shri Asif Jalal, IPS, Inspector General, BSF. The honour was received on behalf of LHWRF by Mr Dheeraj Dhawan (HR Head), Mr Johnson Kujur (Centre Manager โ€“ CSR), Mr Kumar (Senior Executive โ€“ EHS), and Mr Sanjeev Choudhary (Senior Executive โ€“ Admin).

LHWRF was also honoured by the District Project Officer, Women & Child Development Department, Raisen, , in recognition of its contribution to reducing malnutrition and strengthening Anganwadi centres in Obaidullaganj Block, Madhya Pradesh.

In partnership with Atlas Copco Group , Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation is supporting rural artisans from Bhor and Velhe blocks in Pune with improved tools and machinery, including a Metal Tube Marking Machine.

Earlier, artisans relied on traditional techniques and had to send their products elsewhere for refining. Today, with improved machinery, they are undertaking more processes themselves and creating a wider range of products, including bansuri, hanging showpieces, mobile stands, combs and more, with better finish and quality.

The value addition is opening new possibilities for artisans. With improved product quality, a wider range of products, and access to new markets and orders, their traditional skills are creating more sustainable livelihood opportunities..

For Prasad Sunil Dahibhate, a young farmer from Chale village in Mulshi, Pune , it began with a dream to build a dairy enterprise of his own.

For years, Prasad travelled long distances for work, limiting both his earning opportunities and the time he could spend with his family. He wanted a more stable livelihood, but purchasing a buffalo was beyond his financial reach.

Through village-level outreach, Prasad came to know about the Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF). Under the Sustainable Livelihood Development Programme, implemented in partnership with Atlas Copco Group he received 50% financial assistance to purchase his first milch buffalo, along with guidance on dairy management, animal care and veterinary support.

One buffalo became the beginning of something bigger. Prasad later purchased a second buffalo and gradually built a sustainable dairy enterprise. Today, he earns around โ‚น50,000โ€“โ‚น55,000 a month. Working just four hours in the morning and two in the evening, he now earns from a livelihood built close to home.

For Prasad Sunil Dahibhate, a young farmer from Chale village in Mulshi, Pune , it began with a dream to build a dairy enterprise of his own.

For years, Prasad travelled long distances for work, limiting both his earning opportunities and the time he could spend with his family. He wanted a more stable livelihood, but purchasing a buffalo was beyond his financial reach.

Through village-level outreach, Prasad came to know about the Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF). Under the Sustainable Livelihood Development Programme, implemented in partnership with Atlas Copco Group he received 50% financial assistance to purchase his first milch buffalo, along with guidance on dairy management, animal care and veterinary support.

One buffalo became the beginning of something bigger. Prasad later purchased a second buffalo and gradually built a sustainable dairy enterprise.

Today, he earns around โ‚น50,000โ€“โ‚น55,000 a month. Working just four hours in the morning and two in the evening, he now earns from a livelihood built close to home.
