Our Story

Each one of us, born under our nationality, has had several moments of intense pride in our country. Being an Indian has never felt better than now, when the incumbent Prime Minister is genuinely thinking about the common man and trying to uplift India into the super-power orbit. For the citizens of India, it is also the time to individually contribute towards changing India into a country that rivals the best in the world. This however, will not happen unless we as a people unite for this common cause. But how can the people contribute? How can any of us make India a better place? How do we remove critical national afflictions like corruption, poverty, lack of education and hygiene or even basic local problems like availability of potable water or motorable roads? Who do we speak to? Where do we raise our concerns? Towards that end, we, at "Step Towards Acche Din" do just one thing- We bring the country to you. The purpose of our initiative is to be acknowledged as a relevant and a powerful channel of communication between the government’s various measures, policies & programmes and their beneficiaries. There has always been a gap between the government and the people in our country. A persistent lack of communication on people policies and a dismal scale of adherence to implementation has meant that most people remain unaware of them. Citizen-centric initiatives are formulated but roll-down effect remains so poor that sometimes it fails to reach the target population. Communication remains the biggest weakness of all governments. Without communication, information gets stagnant and therefore redundant. In today’s wide-spectrum and high-bandwidth Internet age, information is supreme power. It creates powerful opportunities for dialogue and progress. We aim to spread this life-transforming power to the general masses. The basis of all our efforts is people participation. Not only that, we understand people and their needs in the true sense by working in tandem with them right at the grass-root level. These identified people groups that we work with, are either volunteer teams or citizen organizations and we help them gain representation at the right touch-points within the government. We are also constantly engaging with the relevant ministries to bring local and national people issues directly under the spotlight. Through this website, we attempt to raise the requisite awareness and alertness amongst people regarding initiatives on all Government Policies and Programmes. "Step Towards Acche Din" already possess a large repository of collective acumen in skilled and experienced professionals. Their combined competence will make dissemination of information and subsequent participation of people in different plans and policies a much easier task. Apart from Operations and Logistics, Back-end divisions etc., expert content-writers will regularly explain and elucidate plans and proposals floated by the government on our website in the plainest of words. We have taken a small step towards a big purpose. But good days or Acche Din will only arrive when the government of the day and citizens are on the same team. A scheme, plan or policy only gets fructified when there is an actual involvement from people’s side. To ensure people’s participation, thorough preparation is needed and we have picked up the gauntlet. We are geared up to locate a motivational core in the common people so that we can help them know their rights and bring them nearer to the administrative system. We hold firm confidence and conviction in the potential and promise of our humble initiative – and in the citizens of India. To put it simply, we are a virtual, real-time comprehensive bulletin board for all people centric policies, activities and schemes run by the government. We are not government run, but we partner with various government entities and ministries to help them highlight what they are doing across sectors.
