Schizophrenia Awareness Association - SAA SAA is a registered charitable organization, dedicated to create awareness and understanding about schizophrenia and allied mental disorders.

SAA was established in Pune by Dr. Jagannath Wani, Canada’s Highest Civilian Awardee, with the sole purpose of helping mental disorder patients and their families deal with the illness more effectively. SAA's Mission is:
- To create public awareness and understanding about mental disorders in general and schizophrenia in particular.
- To inculcate confidence in and practice of self-help amongst fa

milies afflicted with mental illnesses.
- To provide facilities for vocational training with an aim of economic and social rehabilitation of people afflicted with mental disorders.

On 10th July, Schizophrenia Awareness Association (SAA) observed Saathi Day in memory of Late Shri Anand Godse, a dedicated long-term volunteer and member of SAA's Board of Trustees. The day was observed to honour his unwavering commitment, selfless service, and the spirit of volunteerism that continues to inspire the organisation. The event was graced by the presence of Smita Godse, wife of Late Shri Anand Godse, along with their son and son-in-law.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by Ujjwal Kele( President, SAA). This was followed by Amrit Kumar Bakhshy (Managing Trustee, SAA) who spoke about the significance of Saathi Day and fondly remembered Shri Anand Godse's invaluable contributions to SAA and its mission.

The event brought together representatives and volunteers from Smith Foundation, Eklavya Foundation for Mental Health, Parivartan Trust, and Prajit Self Help Group to celebrate the invaluable role of volunteers in strengthening the work of NGOs.

Bhakti Vaidya, Madhurani Deshmukh, Rajesh Alone, Abhijeet Chavan, Mukta Deshpande, Santosh Pardeshi, Sushma Datar, and Anita Shrivastav shared their inspiring journeys, reflecting on what motivated them to volunteer and the meaningful experiences they have gained through their service.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Ulhas Luktuke, Senior Psychiatrist, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of support groups. He shared the vision and objectives of Prajit Self Help Group, explaining what a support group stands for and the impact it can have on individuals and families.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Neeta Koparkar (Secretary and Treasurer, SAA) who expressed her gratitude to all the participants, volunteers, and organisations for making the event a meaningful tribute to the enduring legacy of Late Shri Anand Godse.

२४ मे २०२६ रोजी, जागतिक स्किझोफ्रेनिया दिनानिमित्त, स्किझोफ्रेनिया अवेअरनेस असोसिएशन, म्हणजेच ‘सा’ संस्थेतर्फे आदित्य पेंडसे यांच्या स्मृतिप्रीत्यर्थ “स्किझोफ्रेनिया : जागरूकतेपासून पुनर्वसनापर्यंत — हितधारकांचे योगदान” या विषयावर चर्चा सत्र पार पडले.
या सत्रात प्रसिद्ध मानसोपचारतज्ज्ञ डॉ. वाटवे,
‘सा’ पुनर्वसन केंद्राच्या केंद्रप्रमुख आरती पंडित,आत्मनिर्भर संस्थेच्या सहसंस्थापक तान्या दत्त, प्रसिद्ध चित्रपट दिग्दर्शक आणि निर्माते सुनिल सुकथनकर व एकलव्य संस्थेचे संस्थापक डॉ. अनिल वर्तक यांनी सहभाग घेतला होता.
रवींद्रनाथ चंद्रन यांनी चर्चासत्राचे समन्वयक म्हणून काम केले.
तसेच ‘सा’ संस्थेच्या नवीन वेबसाइटचे अनावरण प्रसिद्ध मानसोपचारतज्ज्ञ, AMAHA चे संस्थापक आणि मुख्य कार्यकारी अधिकारी तसेच IMHA चे समूह सदस्य डॉ. अमित मलिक यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले. यावेळी सा चे सहसचिव श्री. प्रशांत कुलकर्णी आणि श्री. राज ओक (वेबसाइट विकसक) यांनी मनोगत व्यक्त केले.
‘सा’चे अध्यक्ष श्री. उज्वल केले यांनी प्रास्ताविक केले, तर सा चे विश्वस्त श्री. अभय केले यांनी सांगता केली. नेहा इंगवले यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन केले.
