"I am not alone anymore."
"How long will I live?"
"Why did this happen to me?"
"Will I ever get married?"
"Can I have children?"
These are not just questions—they are the everyday realities of adolescents and young adults who have been living with HIV since birth.
Many have experienced stigma and discrimination. Some have been rejected by their families. Others have faced discrimination in healthcare settings or struggle with anxiety about education, employment, relationships, and the future.
This weekend, 25 young people living with HIV from different districts of Maharashtra came together for Prayas' "Tarunyabhan" workshop—a safe space to talk, learn, reflect, and connect.
Over two days, we didn't just discuss HIV. We spoke about relationships, mental health, self-worth, disclosure, stress management, dreams, and hope. Through conversations, activities, stories, songs, and shared experiences, they discovered something many of them had been missing:
A sense of belonging.
As the workshop came to an end, many participants told us:
"I don't feel alone anymore."
"I have found friends who understand me."
"I have a new hope for my future."
Sometimes, the most meaningful intervention isn't simply providing information—it's creating a space where young people feel heard, accepted, and reminded that they are not alone.
That is where healing begins.
