As part of Kalpavriksh Webinar series, we are now organising Webinar #4: CBRs, PBRs & e-PBRs: Community Participation in Biodiversity Documentation

How do Community Biodiversity Registers (CBRs), People’s Biodiversity Registers (PBRs) and electronic PBRs (e-PBRs) differ, and what do they mean for Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs)? The webinar explores how biodiversity documentation intersects with traditional knowledge, community rights, FPIC, benefit sharing and conservation. The webinar will examine the purpose, processes, ownership and governance of different documentation approaches, and the opportunities and challenges of digitisation. Join community representatives, biodiversity officials, researchers and civil society practitioners to discuss how documentation can become a more participatory, rights-based and equitable process that strengthens community knowledge, conservation and livelihoods.

An evening of poetry, reflection, and conversations with nature.
Organised by Kalpavriksh and Avkash Pune, the event invited us to imagine the voices of rivers, forests, birds, and other beings, while reflecting on the environmental challenges they face today.
Held at Kalachhaya Amphitheatre, the gathering also featured a Kalpavriksh children's books stall for young readers and nature lovers.

Kalpavriksh, in collaboration with the Van Gujjar Tribal Yuva Sangathan and partners, organised Gujjaran-Go-Kaarj, a three-day biocultural festival in Rishikesh (February 2026) to celebrate the Gojri Buffalo: A Shared Heritage of the Himalayas. Marking the UN International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists and the International Month of Buffalo, the festival honoured Van Gujjar pastoral traditions and created a platform for dialogue among pastoralists, policymakers, NGOs, and conservationists
