A 2 day RYLA was held at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Boys Military School on 16th & 17th December by Rotary Club of Pune Kothrud.
The contents of the program were finalized after taking inputs from the School teaching staff.
The teachers requested for a Program that would motivate the students, inspire confidence & bring about positivity in their outlook.
The theme aptly titled "Self Motivation ", "Yes I Can" reflected the need of the teaching staff.
Urmila Haldankar, Ujwal Tawde, Umesh Kulkarni, Satyajit Chitale & Mithilesh Jatar were Faculty for this RYLA.
Day 1
The 2 day RYLA got underway with inaugural address by Pradeep Kulkarni who spoke about the importance of Values in Character building & how RYLA helps in development of individuals.
Thereafter Gayatrii Ladkat guided the Students on how both the Army & Rotary have the concept of Service before Self, how the Students should inculcate discipline, develop competitive spirit to succeed in their life.
The first session was led by Urmila Haldankar who spoke on "Self Motivation". The session guided the Students on the correct methods of studies & preparing for exams, importance of focus & hard work,
various avenues open to the Students in choosing their Career, the concept of Motivation including "Intrinsic" & "Extrinsic" motivation. The session also dwelt at length on "hostel life" of the students & counselled them to look at the brighter side of the disciplined life of the hostel as it will help shape their future.
The session ended with "Nick's Story" - a truly inspiring video of a permanently disabled person leading a near normal life. The video sought to convey to the impressionable minds of the Students that nothing is impossible this World.
The second session conducted by Ujwal Tawde was titled " Dare & Act". This session was around Courage & Strategy. With the help of examples & activities, the students were made aware of how actions taken without planning & thinking are
harmful, and the importance of Strategy & Courage to achieve Success.
The 3rd session of Day 1 revolved around "Brain Games" conducted by Umesh Kulkarni. These activities help develop motor movements, skills like memory, & attention.
Day 2
Day 2 started with a session on Pranayam & Meditation led by Umesh Kulkarni. Thereafter, the students performed "River Crossing". This was a team activity aimed at creating awareness about the importance of planning, patience, team work in achieving Success.
The second session on Public Speaking was led by Mithilesh Jatar. This was a participative session in which the Students
volunteered to speak to the assembled group. The intent of the session was to create awareness amongst the Students on various aspects of Public Speaking, the dos & donts for effective Public Speaking.
The third session on Leadership was delivered by Umesh Kulkarni. This session introduced the Students to the concept of Leadership, types of Leadership, pros & cons of different styles in different situations & so on. As a part of this session, the Students participated in 2 activities centered around Communication, Decision Making, Adaptability.
The last session, on Crisis Management, was anchored by Satyajit Chitale. This session guided the Students on how to overcome a Crisis. This was done thru a Case Study. This session helped the
Students understand more about Crisis Management & how qualities like Decision Making, Perseverance, Focus, Thinking Ability, etc, help us overcome a Crisis.
The RYLA ended by giving away Awards to 3 meritorious Students.
