Making Leaf plates or patravalis
In keeping with our objective of supporting environment friendly initiatives and making our earth a better place to live in, we have begun with the production of leaf plates and bowls or patravalis made of leaves of palas or Butea monosperma as well as those of Bauhinia vahlii. Engaged in this activity are local women, right from collecting leaves and stitching them, to pressing them together with paper to give the plates the desired strength and hardness. The proceeds from this are put back into this activity and also to provide a means of livelihood for these women from Dehu and its fringe fields with the ‘Palas’ trees. Requesting all to support this activity and make our planet earth a healthier place to live in by living ‘responsibly’ and caring to decrease our carbon footprints!
