An incredible evening of numbers, nostalgia, and non-stop laughter! Rotary Club of Pune Central hosted its Club Budget Presentation & Discussion, followed by a brilliant episode of 'Charcha – The Conversation'.

This lively fireside chat featured Past Presidents PP Rtn. Narayandas Rathi (Rotarian Lifetime Award Winner) and PP Rtn. Dr. Anand Bhatia (renowned anaesthetist), alongside their wonderful spouses, PP Rtn. Aruna Rathi and R'Ann Dr. Sita Bhatia.

Skillfully moderated by PE Rtn. Krishna Kumar, our guest couples brought fantastic sporting spirit to the stage! The night quickly turned into an unforgettable celebration of fellowship. From inspiring Rotary memories to heartfelt experiences and shared laughter, it was camaraderie at its absolute best!

🌱 Building more than sites — building futures.

On Sunday, 26th July, Rtn. Minal Kering, Chairperson Non Medical, RCPC, spent the morning with the children at the Hinjewadi centre of Tara Mobile Creches Pune (TMC), continuing our year-long series of life skills, mentoring and counselling sessions.

Since 1980, TMC Pune has given the children of construction workers a safe, happy and nurtured childhood, running its centres right on the building sites. This session, for children aged 12 to 16, focused on communication and active listening — through games, storytelling, group theatre and honest conversation, and closed with one-on-one counselling where each child could simply be heard.

🌳 Together we Plant. Together we Nurture. Together we Impact.

On 26th July, RCPC, in synergy with Zone 4 clubs, held a tree plantation drive at Perne Hill, Wagholi, under Project Pancham, supporting the District Environment Team's mission.

Members attending included District Director for Environment PP Rtn. Subodh Malpani (Rotary Club of Pune Pride), District Co-Director PP Rtn. Sanjay Karwa, President Rtn. Parvin Malhotra, Director Non-Medical Rtn. Jeevan Mahaldar, Rtn Dr Bhatia, Rtn Vaishali, Rtn Julius and Madhu, Rtn Imran, Salma and Ishan, Rtn Geeta and Krishna, along with volunteers from Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in good numbers.

Nearly 40 Rotarians took part, marking the start of a three-year commitment to restore a hillside through native tree plantation, a step towards District 3131's vision to Protect the Environment and Conserve Water. 🌱

RCPC hosted a Tree Plantation Drive at Green Sunrise Hill, Perne, Wagholi, on 26th July, in partnership with five Zone 4 clubs: Rotary Club of Poona, RCP Downtown, RC Camp, RCP Far East and RC Kalyaninagar.

The event was supported by District Environment Team, wherein District Director Rtn Subodh Malpani and Co director PP Rtn Sanjay Karwa were present.

Nearly 40 Rotarians joined hands with 150 volunteers from Cognizant Technology Solutions to work the slopes and give a dry, barren hillside new life as an urban forest. President Cmde. Parvin Malhotra led the RCPC contingent, alongside Rtn Jeevan, (Director Non Medical) Rtn. Vaishali, Col. Julius and Dr. Madhu Rocque, Rtn. Imran and Salma with son Ishan, Rtn Geeta and Krishna, and PP Rtn. Dr. Anand Bhatia, who at 86 was right there on the slope with everyone else.

This is part of a three-year commitment RCPC has structured for the site, with PP Rtn. Ravi Kapoor leading the club's CSR and Global Grants efforts to grow the model further. The day served the Protect Environment and Conserve Water pillars of DG Nitin Dhamale's theme for the year, Create Lasting Impact, and tied into District 3131's Project Pancham and Tree Plantation Campaign.

On 24th July, RCPC Central joined Rtn. Reshma Sambare, Co‑Director for Cervical Cancer Prevention, to conduct an HPV awareness session and vaccination drive at Dasave Public School, Lavasa.

Despite widespread misconceptions around HPV vaccination, informed conversations made a real difference. From 8 initial registrations, 13 girls were vaccinated, and several more expressed interest after understanding the science and the importance of early protection.

A heartfelt thank you to Principal Mona Seth and the school staff for their strong support. Vaccines were donated by the Serum Institute, administered by INVC, and supported by District 3131.

RCPC Central will return in August with Christ University students as we continue this mission through RY 26–27 and beyond — because every child protected today is a future safeguarded tomorrow.

RCPC was delighted to be part of the 2nd Installation Ceremony of the Rotaract Club of Symbiosis Artificial Intelligence Institute (SAII), held on 18th July 2026.
President Rtn. Cmde. Parvin Malhotra attended as Chief Guest and addressed the young leaders, sharing reflections from his own Rotary journey and the values that hold true across generations of service. He was joined by Rtn. Sunil Deshmukh, Director - New Gen, PP Rtn. Ravi Kapoor, PP Rtn. Sanjay Karwa, and Rtn. Minal Kering Chair - New Gen, whose presence added further warmth to the occasion. The ceremony saw the formal induction of the new Board, with the Club Charter presented to incoming President Kudrat Thakkar. Arya Sharma was announced as President-Elect for the term ahead.
It is always a joy to see our Rotaract family grow in strength and purpose. Congratulations to the new Board of the Rotaract Club of SAII, and best wishes for a year full of service and fellowship.

🩸 Awareness on Thalassemia Program at FIBE, Pune

As an initiative of PP Rtn. Ravi Kapoor and PP Rtn. Sanjay Karwa, the Rotary Club of Pune Central conducted a Thalassemia Awareness Program at FIBE, Viman Nagar, Pune, for around 80 young professionals.

Rtn. Ashish Goel, one of the founders of FIBE and a member of RCPC, played a key role in facilitating the program.

The talk was delivered by Dr. Nita Munshi, President, Thalassaemia Society Pune Chapter (TSPC), who emphasized thalassemia prevention through blood sample testing, genetic counselling, and the importance of voluntary blood donation.

The interactive session was followed by blood sample collection from approximately 75 participants, receiving an overwhelming response. Rtn. Cmde. Parvin Malhotra, President of RCPC, along with club members, was present. PR Rtn. Shikha Mitra of the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown, along with members of her club, also attended in support of the initiative.

The program reinforced the message that awareness, timely screening, and voluntary blood donation are the cornerstones of Thalassemia prevention.

We look forward to conducting many more such awareness programs in the future. 🩸

Our members asked, we delivered! 🙌 At our first member meeting, members wished for more fellowship and fun at our gatherings. Monsoon Magic on July 19th was our answer ☔

Raincoats, rain hats and full costume energy took over as RCPC turned the season's chaos into pure comedy — a Shark Tank pitch for Umbrella 2.0, a courtroom trial for Monsoon itself, and a ramp walk that crowned our very own Monsoon King & Queen 👑

Bhajiyas, batata wadas and bhutta made sure the rains felt exactly right 🌽🍽️
