Academy of Dhrupad Music & Research (ADMUR) has been informally working on its objectives for the past two years. OBJECTIVES

1. Dhrupad & Dhammar rendition pedagogy
2. Research on all aspects of the musical form
3. Promote and Preserve the art's pristine values

METHODS

The ancient term of 'Guru Shishya' which in recent times has often been the casualty of brutalization shall be given its true meaning through establishment of its original fool-proof educational communication. PHILOSOPHY

The purpose is to sensitize learners and researchers adequately on the Dhrupad value system. All issues that are subsumed in this purpose naturally become ADMUR's philosophy. MUSIC DELIVERY MEDIA

What does one make of a self-styled Dhrupad 'Guru' and his clan facing strong allegations of r**e? Does his Padmashree matters anymore? Or should he use the Padmashree as a salutation? Answer is NO. But there are extremely opportunistic students of these 'gurus' who swear against the reported crimes against girl students, they themselves bask in the reflected glory of 'padmashree' in their dhrupad 'shows'?
I had such an experience, in Pune. I had no other way but to subtly ask the student to leave. "While you are clear about the three being rapists, why do you cite Ra**st Guru-s' name, yet criticise him in his absence?" This was enough for the student to leave, proving beyond doubt that 'fame ke liye kuch bhi karenge". Dhikkar hai!!!

It is with deep grief that we report the passing away of my senior Guru Bandhu and Guruvarya Milind Nafday. He was active in morally supporting me during my wife Jayawanti's illness. I learnt some good things about Dhrupad gayan of Dagarvani from him. May his soul rest in peace.
