Registered NGO number E-7725 Pune. HAPPY TAILS, HAPPY EARTH! Our activities are designed to help create a kinder world for humans, animals and the environment. We work on street animal rescue, spay & neuter of stray animals (sterilisation), street animal feeding, and environmental protection. STREET ANIMAL RESCUE
Tails 'N' Trees does not have its own shelter or veterinary clinic. We use the city's
existing infrastructure to rescue and treat street animals in and around Magarpatta, Pune. This includes a network of volunteers, veterinary clinics, ambulance services, boarding kennels, shelters and foster homes. We require funding for veterinary treatment, surgery, medicines, first aid supplies, animal transport, and kennel or shelter fees. ON-SITE TREATMENT
Small wounds, parasites, skin infections, vaccinations, de-worming and other small procedures can all be carried out on-site on the street where the animal lives. This saves scarce funds, time, and resources for more critical cases. It is also less stressful for the animal, and means that shelters do not get filled up with animals that can be treated on the street. Our volunteers have provided first aid and medication for hundreds of animals on-site around Magarpatta. We require funding for medicines and first aid supplies to treat animals on-site. SPAY & NEUTER (STERILISATION)
Our network of volunteers and dog feeders identify unsterilised stray cats and dogs in the area. Dogs that have not been spayed or neutered have intact ears, while sterilised dogs have a V-shaped notch cut in their ears during the spay/neuter operation. This allows for easy identification from a distance. Once we have identified unsterilised animals, we arrange dog catchers, animal transport, surgery, and post-operative care. Tails 'N' Trees funds the dog catchers, animal transport to and from the hospital, and surgery at private veterinary clinics. Partner NGOs carry out surgery and post-operative care at a subsidised rate. After surgery and care, Tails 'N' Trees volunteers ensure that the stray cats or dogs are released back to their correct original location. STREET ANIMAL FEEDING
Our volunteers provide nutritious meals to help stray animals improve their health. Higher immunity from good food helps animals resist disease. Nervous street dogs on open ground are almost impossible to catch for sterilisation. Feeding these animals means they become friendly and can then be caught and sent for sterilisation. Medications can easily be given in food to keep street animal populations healthy and free of parasites. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Humans created the litter problem and humans must take responsibility and clean up our shared environment. Tails 'N' Trees organises clean up drives to remove human trash from wildlife habitats. Indian cities are losing tree cover to development. Tails 'N' Trees wishes to step in and help replace trees that are lost.
