*Summer vacations announced for schools in Kashmir division from July 1*

Srinagar, Jun 24 : Amid continuous heat wave, the Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department (SED) on Saturday announced summer vacations for all government and recognised private schools up to higher secondary level from July 1 to July 10.

"It is hereby ordered that all the government educational institutions and recognised private schools up to higher secondary level functioning in Kashmir division and winter zone of Jammu division shall observe summer vacation w.e.f July 1 to 10 of 2023," the SED order, a copy of which reads.

Notably the summer vacation has been announced in view of the prevailing heat wave in Kashmir as the day temperature crossed 35 degree Celsius making it difficult for the students to bear the scorching heat.

Change in weather situation:

School Edu Deptt to issue new timing

Srinagar, 31 Oct (KNO): Following the cold weather conditions, the School Education Department is likely to issue new timing that will be subsequently be implemented from November-01.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), top officials of the department said, “Keeping in view the ongoing cold weather conditions in winter zones of Kashmir division, the department will issue the new school timing.”

The new timing will issued for both the schools falling under the limits o municipality limits and outside. The new timing is most likely to be implemented from November-01.”

Pertinently, the Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tasaduk Hussain Mir earlier this month has said that if the weather condition permits, the department will continue the academics till December end to compensate the academic losses which the students have suffered during the COVID-19 lockdown—(KNO)

All the Govt & Private (recognised) Schools of Kashmir division shall observe school timings as 9AM to 3PM with Municipal limits of Srinagar & 10AM to 4PM in areas falling outside Municipal limits of Srinagar w.e.f 01/10/2022.
