Blood Donation Camp at Holy Family Church, Porvorim, Sees Strong Community Response

A blood donation camp organised by Holy Family Church, Porvorim, in collaboration with Loving Hearts Goa and the North Goa District Hospital’s Asilo Blood Bank, witnessed an encouraging response from parishioners on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The camp, held at the Holy Family Church hall from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., saw around 27 eligible donors coming forward to contribute to the noble cause of saving lives. The initiative was supported by prior announcements made during church services by Rev. Fr. Adolf Alvares and Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr Boris Dias, urging parishioners to participate actively.
Responding to the call, members of the parish gathered in significant numbers, demonstrating compassion and solidarity. Each donor was provided with a donor card from the blood bank and a certificate as a token of appreciation for their contribution.
An added highlight of the camp was an organ donation awareness desk set up by the MOHAN Foundation. Mr Gabriel Pereira, organ donation ambassador, engaged with donors and visitors, distributing informational flyers and explaining the life-saving impact of organ donation. He emphasised that while a single blood donation can save 3 to 4 lives, organ donation has the potential to save up to 8 lives and enhance up to 50 through tissue donations.
At the conclusion of the camp, the organising team, including founder member Mr. Ranjit Rodrigues, President Mr Mark D’Souza, Secretary Mr. Gabriel Pereira, and Treasurer Mrs Sanyukta Gawde, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Parish Priest and Assistant. Parish Priest for their support and encouragement. They also extended their gratitude to the team from Asilo Blood Bank for their cooperation and to all parishioners who came forward to donate blood.
The event stood as a testament to the spirit of community service and the willingness of individuals to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

On November 18, 2025, Our Lady of Pilar Church, affiliated with the Society of Pilar, organised a blood donation camp in collaboration with Loving Hearts Goa and the Goa Medical College Blood Bank. The camp was held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

This blood donation camp took place on the eighth day of the novena dedicated to the sick, held at the Pilar Seminary Hall. Parishioners who attended Mass earlier that day actively participated by donating blood, including seminarians and priests.

Mr. Ranjit Rodrigues, a founding member of Loving Hearts Goa, along with President Mr. Mark D'Souza, expressed their gratitude to Rev. Fr. Anthony Joseph Fernandes, Central Delegate Superior at the Pilar Pilgrim Centre, for supporting the camp for the second time. They also thanked all donors for their valuable contributions to this noble act, emphasising that their donations make a difference in someone's life.
