Sandrust Road Railway Station under construction in 1919 to later

Before the Sandhrust Rd station came up, there was a station named Mazagaon railway station located north, under the base of the Hancock bridge. It was opened on 1st July 1894. It was listed as one of the nine important station within the city, by The Gazetteer of Bombay City in 1909.[4] It served both the local population, and the Portuguese and British suburb on either side. According to old maps, dating as late as at least 1914, and as early as at least 1909, the station was located just north or at the base of today's Hancock Bridge in Mazagaon.[5] It was closed on 31st January 1925. This was to pave way for the upcoming Sandhurst Road station, that was to be constructed to connect to the Harbour Line (during its extension to Victoria Terminus), since both the main and the Harbour line had to be served by the single two-tired station.[6] The lower level station opened on 1st February 1925, while the upper level was opened on 3rd February, the day the electrified Harbour line opened for service.[7]

Kurla station of 1925... Do you know why Kurla writes 'C' for train...
Kurla Railway Station is a very important and old railway station on the central and harbor line of the Mumbai suburbs. Kurla station has historical importance as it is part of the railway which was first run from Mumbai to Thane in 1853 Kurla Railway Station was established in 1879 and from that year the local escape started from here. The suburban terminus here was built in 1913, while it was quadered in 1915. In 1906, a railway line from Kurla to Chembur was started to carry garbage from this railway station, which was further opened for traffic in 1924.
On 12 December 1910 Harbour Railway was officially opened between Kurla to Ray Road. This route was named Harbour Line (Port Margage) as this train is actually passing through the natural ports of Mumbai. Further in 1925, stations like 'Dockyard Road' and 'Sandhurst Road' were constructed by railway flights and linked this route with 'Victoria Terminus' (Today's six). Shivaji Maharaj was taken to terminus).
Did you know the country's ran on the Harbour Line in 1925 between the stations from 'Bombay Victoria Terminus' to 'Kurla'.
The original spelling given by the British to this Kurla railway station was 'Coorla'. This is why this railway station's symbolic code on the indicator is still 'C'.

The work at Malad. In a first of its kind of mega rail surgery at Malad, all five Western Railway lines on will shift westwards starting this weekend to squeeze in a new line to boost the overall capacity of the network.

The crucial and sensitive work also involves creating a new platform at Malad. A ten hour block starting at 10am on Saturday night and ending at 8am on Sunday, a period of ten hours, will see the first shift.

Commuters should note that this will also lead to cancellation of 99 trains, short termination of 19 trains and short origination of 19 trains.

This is considered the correction of a historical error. Over 40 years after parts of the canal surrounding the old town of Utrecht were concreted over to accommodate a 12-lane highway, the Dutch city celebrates the restoration of its 900-year-old moat. The project aims to revive the city's historical and cultural heritage, enhancing its scenic beauty and improving the quality of life for its residents. This restoration symbolizes a return to the city's roots and a commitment to preserving its historical identity.
