The stories we grew up with are finding a new home. ❤️

For generations, Prasar Bharati has brought India into our homes — from films and music to television programmes and stories in the many languages of our country.

Today, that rich legacy continues on WAVES - Prasar Bharati’s free OTT platform, bringing India’s cinema, culture and entertainment to audiences everywhere.

Through a new partnership between PlanetRead’s Billion Readers Initiative (BIRD) and Prasar Bharati, Same Language Subtitling is being introduced across WAVES content — bringing together India’s rich content and the power of reading.

Because the content we love can also help us read.

Here’s to keeping India’s cultural heritage alive, accessible and reaching more people.

This Independence day we will be celebrating the legacy of Indian cinema . Stay tuned!

Watch. Read. Repeat. 🇮🇳

Can watching a song help a nation read? We are sure it can!

After all the love our Hindi, Marathi, and Punjabi versions received, we are beyond excited to release Kannada version of our BIRD Song!

With Same Language Subtitles (SLS) synced on screen, you get to groove, sing, and read along naturally. It turns an everyday music break into a delightfully easy way to build reading confidence in Kannada, without it ever feeling like a work.

She picked a corner and started sketching the scene as it unfolded around her. Swipe till the end to see what she came up with.

What began as a literacy mission has now officially crossed 50 episodes! ✨

Built from the ground up in over eight Indian languages, we are trying to make every voice heard and every story felt, no matter what language it’s told in.

Looking back at these 50 episodes, we’ve realized something beautiful: every culture brings its own unique perspective, and that stories have the power to connect us all.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, and to YOU for listening, feeling, and sharing these moments with us.

Press play to take a quick trip through some of our favorite stories so far!

Which story touched your heart the most? Let us know in the comments!

StarDost is now live on Vimeo! Check out the playlist through the link in our bio.

Ever felt the warmth of a culture that welcomes you like family?

The Sartang tribe of West Kameng, Arunachal Pradesh, shares a graceful welcome song “Githik Te Henko Luni Akhi Sakhok Ma Ye”, celebrating community unity, hospitality, and a deep, gentle reminder to keep our mountains and surroundings clean.

This marks the first-ever song aired on DD Arunprabha with Same Language Subtitling (SLS)! Deepest thanks to the DD Arunprabha team for partnering with us to preserve cultural heritage while turning music into reading practice for all.

Watch, feel the energy of the Sartang community, and read along!

Gunabi Maan sang our BIRD song in Punjabi. Then she told us what it meant to her, and we’re still thinking about it. ❤️

Some voices carry more than notes - they carry sincerity. She brought exactly that to this song, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

This is the part of the journey we love most - every time someone new lends their voice to BIRD, the mission feels a little bigger, a little more shared.

Have you listened to the Punjabi version yet? Tell us how it made you feel below 👇

Ever used captions in a noisy room or voice commands when your hands were full?

Features like subtitles, dark mode, and voice-to-text aren’t just accessibility tools anymore, they’re everyday conveniences that millions of people rely on.

This is exactly why our policy work focuses on digital inclusion. When we advocate for accessible standards, we aren’t just checking a box for a minority; we are building a digital world that simply works better for everyone. ❤️

Now tell us: What’s one “accessible” feature you use almost every day without even realising it?

This Reading Month, we’re celebrating the joy of reading through our Dekhte Dekhte Padhega India campaign.

Some people don’t just tell stories—they make you feel them. ❤️

When Aswathy B (tag her account) heard about our campaign, she warmly agreed to be a part of it, and we’re so grateful. You may know her as an actor, but she’s also a content creator, a classical dancer, and a Bharatanatyam teacher. For DDPI, she has lent her voice to a beautiful Hindi story, bringing it to life with the warmth and grace she’s known for.

Every person who joins this movement reminds us that reading grows stronger when it’s shared. That’s why we’re inviting not just familiar faces, but everyone who believes in the magic of stories.

If you love reading and would like to be part of this movement, we’d love to feature you.

DM us to know more, and we’ll guide you every step of the way.
