On behalf of our Billion Readers (BIRD) Initiative @ The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), we are thrilled to announce that we are the proud recipients of Co-Impact’s system change grant alongside 34 remarkable initiatives across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
BIRD envisions an India where every person is a fluent reader, unlocking unimaginable possibilities of dignity, skill, and empowerment. A billion Indians, including girls and women in the most remote village, consume on average four hours of television every day. BIRD’s mission is to guarantee effortless reading practice for life to 600M+ weak-reading TV viewers. We do this by embedding Same Language Subtitling (SLS), a proven and disruptively cost-effective innovation, into mainstream television and streaming content.
We are incredibly grateful for Co-Impact’s support and belief in us as we stride towards our mission to bring literacy improvement at population scale across India, especially among women and girls from low-income communities.
