Many migrant workers are unable to enrol in social security schemes since their Aadhaar is not linked to mobile number. This even makes opening a bank account difficult. The conflicting work timings of the migrants and service providers make it difficult for the workers to avail the services. At Erumappetty in Thrissur district of Kerala, based on CMID’s request, the Postal Department staff visited Bandhu Shramik Seva Kendra, our resource centre for migrants to provide Aadhaar-mobile linking services to migrants in the evening when they are back from work. CMID and Gram Vikas with the support of Axis Bank Foundation operate two resource centres in Kerala under the Safe and Dignified Migration Programme.
