Seva Setu is a humble, social initiative established to espouse the cause of every person deprived of his/her ‘fundamental rights’. In today’s times, there is an abundance of government schemes, programs for the poor and needy people of India. Still, the ground reality is that the fruits of these schemes and programs either don’t reach the deserving people or they are not able to avail them fully
due to systemic ailments. While there has been improvement as compared to the past, most of the poor people in the remote villages of India still continue to languish and suffer; they are deprived of their fundamental rights of proper and adequate health, education, drinking water, etc. At Seva Setu, we are determined to change this state of despair, deprivation and exploitation and bring about a tectonic change in the way we address and solve issues of the people. True to the meaning of its name, Seva Setu aims to serve as an enabler, facilitator and advocate and thus, bridge the gap between the provider (state/central government/concerned NGOs) of schemes and programs and the desired beneficiary (poor and needy people). Through our various programs and services we wish to provide last mile connectivity to people with the local state machinery at various stages in the full chain of transfer of benefits from the govt. While we intend to work pan India as we move along, we have started with Bihar, one of the most underdeveloped states in India. To begin with, we have picked up various schemes for the poor in the health sector, especially the ones related to Maternal Health. As revealed by key indicators such as MMR(Maternal Mortality Ratio) there is an urgent need to uplift the poor quality of woman and child health in our country. In this direction, the first few schemes that Seva Setu is currently focussing on are Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram (JSKK), Janani Evam Bal Suraksha Yojana (JBSY) and Saamekit Bal Vikas Yojana (SBVY). Our various programmes aimed at bridging gaps present in the delivery mechanisms for these schemes are Aam Sabha – awareness campaign & group activities, Citizen Care - mobile based assistance service, Grievance redressal, Meri Kahani Meri Zubani – true tales of people, Pahel - working with the administrations of various districts in implementing various programs.
