Satkarm Sewa Manch was founded in 2006 as public charitable trust and won several International Awards. The Vision, Goals and objectives of SSM were shaped through a strategic planning process in 2007. SSM was originally conceived as an 'open door ' to meet the Information and Communication, Training and Capacity Building and Networking and sharing needs of local communities, groups and community-
based organizations that are keen to undertake sustainable development initiatives. SSM is working in the sector of Health and Education in Delhi and Bihar in partnership of different Government Departments, Local and Global Agencies since its inception. In 2010, we have been given opportunity to execute Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) by DWSM, at Dhauriya Block of Banka District of Bihar, which is one of the remotest part of the state and needs special attention to lead the community from open defection to the use of toilets. We have conducted extensive IEC campaign, Hygiene Training to School Children as well as Anganwari Sewika-Sahayika, Trained Local Messons to ensure proper Hardware Insallation. In 2012, we have been selected by District Health Society, Patna, for executing outsourcing services i.e. Our trained team is working day and night to maintain the Environmental Sanitation inside all the SIX Hospitals of Capital City Patna of Bihar. In past we have executed National Environmental Awareness campaign for three consecutive years in the slum of Lal Kuan, Delhi, under Ministry of Forest and Environment, Govt. of india. At our different centres in Delhi Satkarm is running Community Library under Ministry of Art & Culture of Govt. of NCT Delhi, for the inhabitants of the slum. Through this project our community leaders are creating awareness about the importance of hygiene and sanitation for happy and healthy life. Satkarm is engaged in several other programmes related to Non Formal Education, Libraries, Computer Education, E-Governance Programmes in Delhi and Bihar. We have been awarded several times at National and International level.
