🌡️ Extreme heat is one of the world’s most dangerous climate hazards, yet only around 54% of countries report issuing some form of extreme heat warning.
While forecasting has improved significantly, effective early warning requires more than predicting temperatures. Gaps in risk knowledge, communication, and preparedness can prevent warnings from reaching those most at risk and translating into protective action.
Drawing on global evidence, new research by the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance examines the state of heat early warning systems and identifies 10 priorities for strengthening them.
