First Screening of the Period Film Festival in Patna: Changing the Narrative, One Story at a Time.

This past Saturday, something truly special unfolded in Patna, Bihar. We kicked off the inaugural Period Film Festival, a unique initiative by designed to use the power of cinema to spark conversations about a topic that's often shrouded in silence: menstruation.

The first screening was held at Rajkiya Kanya Madhya Vidyalaya, where we showcased the powerful Oscar-winning documentary, "Period. End of Sentence.". Around 50 adorelance girls from classes 6 to 8 participated in the screening, and their engagement was nothing short of inspiring.

The film served as a perfect springboard for a meaningful discussion. We delved into important topics, including period cramps, healthy diets, and personal hygiene, as well as the practicalities of using and disposing of sanitary pads. Most importantly, we began the crucial work of busting myths and dismantling the stigma that so often surrounds menstruation.

This first screening was more than just an event; it was a powerful statement. It's a promise to empower the next generation with knowledge, confidence, and the freedom to talk openly about their bodies. This is just the beginning of our journey to create a period-positive future, and we are grateful to the young minds of Patna who joined us in taking this crucial first step.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Puja Kumari and Saakshi for their unwavering support. Their dedication and assistance were instrumental in making this screening a resounding success.

A heartfelt thanks also goes to Nicolette Harutunian and .berton for their invaluable help with the resource materials for the screening of the "Period. End of Sentence.", I am forever grateful for all the learning and mentorship I received from them during my ambassadorship with

I'm looking for organizations and advocates to co-organize the Period Film Festival in different places, especially in rural areas and govt. schools, if you can help me with anything or would like to collaborate for the same, Please write an email: [email protected]
