First ever 3-day Inter-Economic fest containing 7 events from 19th-21st January 2018 brought up by Econ Club and Paryawaran Welfare Society where participants from various universities and colleges including our own will learn from the experiences they undergo in the process of competing against various challenges, scenarios and simulations we present them with.

Prizes worth 67k. So Gear Up and let the competition begin.

Happy Lohri Everyone !!

Lohri aayi oye !!
Some may not know the reason of Lohri celebrations in Punjab:
Dulla Bhatti (popularly referred to as the "Son of Punjab" or "Robin Hood of Punjab") came from the Punjab region of medieval India who led a revolt against Mughal rule during the rule of the emperor Akbar.
Bhatti's "peasant class war" took the form of social banditry, taking from the rich and giving to the poor. He also opposed the abduction and selling of girls into slavery, arranging marriages for them and also providing their dowries.
The memory of Bhatti as a saviour of Punjabi girls is recalled at Lohri celebrations while singing the following song:

Sunder mundriye ho! Tera kaun vicharaa ho!
Dullah Bhatti walla ho! Dullhe di dhee vyayae ho!
Ser shakkar payee ho! Kudi da laal pathaka ho!
Kudi da saalu paata ho! Salu kaun samete!
Chache choori kutti! zamidara lutti!
Zamindaar sudhaye! Bade bhole aaye!
Ek bhola reh gaya! Sipahee far ke lai gaya!
Sipahee ne mari itt! Sanoo de de Lohri, te teri jeeve jodi!

Virsa- the essence of Punjab.

Punjabi weddings are the most apt representation of Punjabi culture, but we can't bring a wedding to Thapar's doorstep...but what we can surely do is bring the Punjabi brides in our auditorium styled by Toni and Guy and dressed by Akriti Bridal Couture along with the Gabrus of Punjab. Also did I mention that Miss Punjab 2017 finalists are the show stoppers. So see you guys on 25th Oct,2017 at 5:00, Thapar auditorium.
