| TAAN is a plant that many of us in Arunachal have grown up seeing around homesteads, fields and forest edges, without always stopping to ask what it truly represents.
In Adi cultural understanding, Taan is often associated with purity, protection and goodwill. During Solung and other community practices, plants like Taan are traditionally used as part of symbolic offerings and decorations that express harmony with nature and a wish for well-being. In older oral references, it is also said to be used in gestures of peace — where carrying or offering it signified non-hostility and respectful intent.
Through our Solung Edit, we are revisiting such native plants and symbols to understand their cultural grounding more carefully, and to ensure we represent them with respect as we translate them into design and storytelling.
Because often, what feels ordinary in our surroundings carries the deepest layers of who we are.

| “Tiny Totes from Arunachal”
In Arunachal, you never really leave empty-handed. There is always a little something to take back, a memory tucked into your bag, a colour, a story, a piece of the place. These tiny handmade bags are one of those keepsakes, made in the colours of our tribes, carrying a little Arunachal wherever they go.
