Dated: 17th November 2025
Subject: Objection to ABK Meeting Minutes Vide Ref No. ABK/MOM/2025-28
Sir,
With reference to the subject cited above, we, the Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU), a constitutionally established and autonomously functioning body, hereby register our strong objection to Point No. 7 of the ABK Meeting Minutes referred to therein.
During the meeting convened on 14th November 2025, I had clearly apprised the House that, as per the rotation cycle prescribed in the AdiSU Bye-Law, the Presidential post for the upcoming AdiSU Election is reserved for Namsai District.
Furthermore, the undersigned has received multiple representations from former AdiSU leaders as well as youths from Namsai District expressing their interest in contesting for the Presidential post.
However, it has been mentioned in the said minutes that AdiSU Namsai and AdiSU Shi Yomi have jointly agreed to reserve the Presidential post for Shi Yomi District. I would like to clarify that no such provision exists in the AdiSU Constitution that permits deviation from the established rotation cycle in this manner.
It is true that on 3rd November 2025, AdiSU Namsai Unit, vide Ref No. AdiSU/Nms/03/11/2025 dated 03/11/2025, submitted a letter proposing to forgo the Presidential post in favour of Shi Yomi District on the grounds of unavailability of eligible candidates. However, as per the rotation cycle, such an exception is permissible only when no eligible candidate is available. In the present case, this condition does not arise, as Shri Gomle Ratan, Vigilance Member, AdiSU (Apex), along with several others, has already submitted representations expressing willingness to contest under the Presidential quota. (Copies of relevant documents are enclosed for ready reference.)
In view of the foregoing, and considering that the AdiSU Election process is already in progress, I have directed the Election Commissioner to conduct the AdiSU Election strictly in accordance with the AdiSU Constitution and the established rotation cycle, without any deviation.
Note: The Presidential Post for Namsai District is final and binding.
Copy to:
1. The General Secretary, ABK, for kind information.
2. The Central Executive Members, Adi Baane Kebang.
3. Office Copy.
Sincerely yours,
(Jirbo Jamoh)
President,
Adi Students’ Union (AdiSU)
