Young Minds. Bold Ideas. A Future of Innovation.

Proud to reflect on the inaugural Young Scientist & Technology Expo 2026 held in Cuddalore!

The Young Scientist Expo is organised by CREGU and supported by Sustainable Development Council (SDC) at Cuddalore. The Expo held at C.K. College of Engineering and Technology brought together young scientific minds who explored real-world challenges and transformed their ideas into creative solutions aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Under the visionary leadership of our Chairperson, Ms. Amudhavalli Ranganathan, Sustainable Development Council (SDC), India, the Expo focused on encouraging students to think, explore, innovate and bring their ideas to life.

The Expo attracted 450+ registrations, 1,200+ students participated and showcased 106 innovative projects.

A special highlight was the inspiring interaction of young minds with Mr. Gokul, Senior Sceintist at ISRO.

Our Founder Chairman, Dr. Datchanamoorthy Ramu, Secretary General Mr. Gokul, Former Director - Strategy & International Relations Mr. Balaji Elumalai interacted with young minds and explored thier creative inventions.

The Expo thought students how classroom learning can connect with real-world challenges and turn knowledge into purpose. Taking opportunities like this beyond metros is essential to ensure that every student gets the exposure, encouragement and platform they deserve.

Heartfelt thanks to every student, teacher, mentor, jury member and partner who made this Expo a success.

A Carbon Border Tax Must Not Become a Border Against Development

The recent BRICS opposition to the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) raises a much bigger question for the world: How do we pursue climate action without creating new barriers to development?

CBAM is now in its definitive phase, applying carbon-related costs to imports such as steel, aluminium, cement and fertilisers. BRICS countries argue that the measure risks becoming discriminatory and protectionist, particularly for developing economies.

My advice to the world is simple:

Climate action must be global, but the burden of transition must be fair.

We cannot ask developing countries to decarbonise at the same speed as wealthy economies without providing the finance, technology and capacity required to make that transition possible.

I believe the world needs a new approach:

🌱 Carbon responsibility — every country must reduce emissions.

💰 Climate finance — developed economies must significantly support developing countries in their transition.

🔬 Technology access — clean technologies should not become another inequality.

🤝 Global carbon standards — standards should be developed multilaterally, not imposed unilaterally.

🏭 Green industrialisation — developing countries should be helped to produce cleaner steel, cement, aluminium and other products rather than simply being penalised for their current carbon intensity.

The objective should not be “carbon tax versus developing countries.”

It should be:

“Decarbonisation with development.”

If climate policy creates a world where the rich can afford to become green while the developing world pays the price, we will deepen global inequality.

The world must ensure that the green transition becomes a bridge to shared prosperity—not a new trade barrier.
