Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts is a non-profit arts initiative that hosts gallery shows, events, and community-based programming in Goa, India. N.

Over the years, Sunaparanta has produced shows independently and in collaboration with leading galleries across India and Europe to present artistic talent both national and international. We have showcased work from internationally acclaimed artists like Bharat Sikka, Laxman Pai, Antonio Piedade da Cruz, Nikhil Chopra, Roger Ballen, Julian Opie, Cruzo, and F. Souza among others. Some of our large

r group shows are often produced in collaboration with India's leading galleries such as Vadehra Art Gallery, Project 88, Jhaveri Contemporary, PhotoINK, Nature Morte, Chatterjee and Lal, and The Guild among others. Apart from exhibitions, Sunaparanta also hosts events like book releases, lectures, musical performances and theatre presentations. We were home to the Shanghvi salons founded and hosted by bestselling novelist Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi featuring conversations with creative personalities like Sudarshan Shetty, William Dalrymple & Olivia Fraser, Dayanita Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Anne Enright, Sooni Taraporevala, Jitish Kallat, Leila & Aradhana Seth, Bharti Kher and more.

Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts is pleased to announce the launch of Pencil to Portfolio, a visual arts programme for young adults beginning in June 2026.

Led by senior artist Rajendra Usapkar and a team of accomplished professionals, this 24-session course is designed for students interested in art, design, architecture, fashion, animation, creative skill-building and all those interested in learning the fundamentals of visual art. Participants will receive personalized mentoring to strengthen their drawing skills, explore diverse materials, develop critical thinking, and build a cohesive portfolio.

The programme will culminate in a portfolio review and a showcase of student work.

An engaging evening at Sunaparanta with writer Derek Almeida and illustrator Fabian Gonsalves, in conversation with author Mario Coelho, as they unpacked the making of their graphic novel ‘Guru, Girls & A Dude Without a Plan’.

From early ideas and scripting to character-building, illustration, and publication, the discussion offered audiences a glimpse into the collaborative process behind creating a graphic novel, along with the persistence and shared vision that carried the project through.

Presented as part of ‘Growing Up in Mário’s World’, celebrating the birth centenary of Mário de Miranda.

A beautiful evening of cinema, nostalgia, and Goa’s cultural history at Sunaparanta Goa Centre for the Arts ✨

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the special screening of Shyam Benegal’s film Trikal: Past, Present and Future (1985), presented as part of the ongoing exhibition Growing Up in Mário’s World, celebrating the birth centenary of Mário de Miranda.

Set against the backdrop of a changing Goa, Trikal continues to resonate through its exploration of family and memory. The evening was made even more memorable with a special introduction by Remo Fernandes, whose music and onscreen presence remain an unforgettable part of the film.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Shemaroo Entertainment for granting us the rights to screen this film.

The session centres around Derek and Fabian’s first graphic novel, 𝙂𝙪𝙧𝙪, 𝙂𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙨 & 𝘼 𝘿𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣, offering insight into the collaborative journey of bringing an illustrated narrative to life.

Presented as part of the ongoing exhibition 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙐𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙈á𝙧𝙞𝙤’𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙, celebrating the birth centenary of Mário de Miranda, the conversation will trace the journey from the initial spark of an idea to writing a script, rendering it into characters, panels, pages, and finally a finished publication. The discussion will reflect on the creative process that brought together two minds with one shared purpose and how commitment ultimately nudged the project across the finish line.

𝙂𝙪𝙧𝙪, 𝙂𝙞𝙧𝙡𝙨 & 𝘼 𝘿𝙪𝙙𝙚 𝙒𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙖 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣 follows Jag, a directionless drifter who hits a wall in the chaotic town of Manojkhand. His aimless life spirals into a whirlwind of romance, mafia pursuits, and an unlikely turn as a Gau Rakshak. Navigating a divine yet dangerous path, he must survive a volatile bomb-maker and high-stakes games to finally find his purpose.
