Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day is not about “celebrating” disability. It is about reminding all of us that every person deserves respect, support, and equal chances in life.
The UN marks this day because disability is not a personal failure. Many challenges that people with disabilities face come from society: buildings that are not accessible, systems that do not include them, and attitudes shaped by old biases. When we talk about these things, we learn to see the problem more honestly.
At Divya Special School, we believe that inclusion is not a favour. It is a basic right. Our children should not have to change themselves to fit into the world. The world should open itself to them.
If this day helps even a few people think more clearly, speak more kindly, and act more fairly, then it has a real purpose.
