Initiatives of Change (IofC) - India

Initiatives of Change (IofC) - India Part of a larger global network of change makers - http://in.iofc.org We are based in Panchgani, near In India we operate as a public trust. B.

Initiatives of Change is a diverse, global network committed to building trust across the world's divides. It comprises people of many cultures, nations, beliefs and backgrounds who are committed to transforming society through changes in individuals and relationships, starting in their own lives. It was first known as The Oxford Group, arising from its work among university students in the late 1

920s. In 1938, as European nations re-armed military, its originator, Frank Buchman, called for ‘moral and spiritual rearmament’ as the way to build a ‘hate-free, fear-free, greed-free world’. Following World War II, Moral Re-Armament (MRA), as it had become known, launched a programme of moral and spiritual reconstruction to foster change in private and public life based on a change in motivation and character. It worked for reconciliation between France and Germany, and between Japan and many other Asian neighbours. It was involved in the process of decolonisation, and in forging industrial teamwork and harmonious race relations. It was also active in inter-religious relations and in the struggle for the rights of indigenous peoples. More recently, it has been involved in the emerging democracies of Central and Eastern Europe and in the quest of ‘good governance’. National bodies are financed by individual gifts and by foundations, and for certain specific programmes, by institutional grants. In 2001, Moral Re-Armament changed its name to Initiatives of Change. Friends of Moral Re-Armament (India) is an Educational Public Charitable Trust established in 1961 and registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. This Trust looks after the activities of Initiatives of Change in India. Developement of character and creation of a value-based society are its objectives. The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. The accounts are audited annually by M/s S. Billimoria & Company and are filed with the Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemption), Mumbai, and Charity Commissioner, Mumbai. Asia Plateau is the training and conference center owned by the Trust and it is located in the Western hills of Maharashtra at Panchgani, 100 km from Pune.

Yesterday was Day 9 and the conclusion of CMC Youth Camp 2026. As the camp came to an end, every participant left with renewed strength, greater hope, and a deeper commitment in life.

This unforgettable journey would not have been possible without the support, encouragement, prayers, and best wishes of so many people. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed in ways big and small to make this camp a meaningful and transformative experience.

Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. The camp may have concluded, but the inspiration, friendships, and lessons we carry forward will continue to guide us in the days ahead.

Day 7 of the camp! Some routines now feel like a habit! The morning stretches followed by time in silent reflection and living the community life. Besides this, we talked about how GenZ can navigate the world of AI and also had a panel on how digital technologies have impacted different generations. A visit to Grampari gave our youth a peek into how rural India plays such an important role in our lives.

Youth Camp - Day 3
Today, we explored what it means to take responsibility for the world around us by first listening to what is happening within us. Through story sharings, we discovered the power of the inner voice — that helps us discern right from wrong, correct our actions, and find direction in moments of uncertainty.

As we learn to listen more deeply to ourselves, we also become better equipped to be changemakers in our families, communities, and the wider world. The day was enriched by our creative workshops, where ideas, talents, and self-expression came alive in many different forms.

Day 2 of the Youth Camp, began with spending time in Nature, examining our values, participating in creative workshops like dance and movement, zentangle art, theatre and music. The evening was spent outdoors playing all kinds of sports and we wound down with a quiet river of life exercise.
The deeper conversations are beginning as day 3 awaits us.

Day 1 of our Change-makers Collective Youth Camp was filled with nostalgic stories from those who had themselves attended the Youth Camp 30-40 years ago and were now organising it for others! The participants engaged in orienteering with the campus and also breaking ice with some fun games!
