With purpose and partnership, we inaugurated a new ecological restoration site at Kochargaon, supported by CREDAI Foundation.

Inaugurated by our Chief Guest, Division Commissioner Dr. Pravin Gedam, this milestone marks another vital step towards protecting and restoring our natural landscapes.

This morning began with a strong sense of purpose—the need to act, to give back.

The CREDAI Foundation’s national and Nashik regional teams visited our Dari Mountain restoration site in Nashik, taking part in plantation activities and learning more about ecological restoration and ways to protect this beautiful landscape.

Sharing a few glimpses from the visit

With the support of Capri Loans, Raah Foundation implemented ecological restoration interventions under the ReGreen Nation programme, contributing to climate resilience in the Western Ghats—one of the world’s most ecologically significant biodiversity hotspots.

In Konkankhede village, India, restoration efforts translated into grounded, on-field action—where knowledge, care, and labour come together to rebuild degraded land. From careful planting of native saplings to hands-on stewardship at the farm level, the work reflects a restoration approach rooted in partnership with local communities and long-term ecological thinking.

This collaboration demonstrates how responsible business engagement can help bridge the gap between economic activity and ecological regeneration—showing that when capital is deployed with intent, nature recovery becomes both possible and enduring.

We mourn the passing of Dr. Madhav Gadgil, a visionary ecologist whose lifelong work on the Western Ghats reshaped how India understands ecological sensitivity and conservation.

His research provided a scientific and ethical foundation that has deeply informed Raah Foundation’s approach—helping us design interventions rooted in ecological limits, community wisdom, and long-term sustainability. Many of our on-ground practices draw from the principles he championed: respecting fragile ecosystems while enabling livelihoods to thrive.

This is a profound loss for the environmental community. But his ideas, values, and courage will continue to guide our work and the many efforts striving to protect the Western Ghats.

His legacy lives on—in landscapes protected, communities empowered, and futures made more resilient.

When farmers learn from farmers, ecosystems grow.

Women farmers from CSA visited our One Acre Food Forest sites to experience the model firsthand. Supported by the Gates Foundation, this initiative is built to be seen, adapted, and scaled—strengthening local capacities and enabling sustainable food systems across landscapes.

Through the one-acre food forest, Raah Foundation is demonstrating a practical agroecology model—created not just for implementation, but for wider adoption by ecosystems seeking sustainable, farmer-led solutions that strengthen rural economies, restore ecological balance, and improve environmental outcomes at scale.

When leadership speaks from lived experience, change feels real.

Dr. Swati Deore, Sarpanch of Nimon, Chandwad, shared heartfelt reflections on the everyday challenges faced by the community—and the hope, dignity, and transformation made possible through the consistent efforts of Raah Foundation in partnership with YES Foundation.

Stories like these remind us why grassroots action matters.

From Corporate Corridors to Ecological Restoration - A Journey of Purpose!

We are incredibly proud to share the inspiring journey of Sarayu Kamat, the dynamic leader of the Regreen Nation program at Raah Foundation, who recently spoke at TEDxYouth@AUS Season 5.

Sarayu’s transformation from a seasoned banking professional with 27 years of leadership experience to an ecological activist is nothing short of extraordinary. What sparked the shift?

A deep calling, witnessing the rapidly dying Western Ghats and the degradation of mountain ranges across Nashik and Maharashtra.

Leaving behind the corporate world, Sarayu first immersed herself in the arts, donating the proceeds from her work to charity, before finding her true purpose: healing the Earth and empowering communities.

Today, through the Regreen Nation program at Raah Foundation, Sarayu & her dedicated team has restored 3,000+ acres of degraded landscapes in the Western Ghats, planted over 300,000 native species, worked closely with local communities, built sustainable, biological models that bring mountains back to life and empowered people to become custodians of their own ecosystems

At TEDxYouth@AUS, Sarayu shared her wisdom, her experiences, and her belief that ecological restoration and community empowerment must go hand in hand. Her journey invites all of us to rethink our relationship with nature, and to step forward in whatever way we can.

When we say food forest, it’s not only about pits and saplings.

It’s also about listening and learning.

When does soil needs strength?

Which herbal extract can prevent pest?

Which leaves-brew will support the growth?

With this learning, our women farmers begin the making of – Dashparni arka. As the name says, 10 different types of medicinal leaves, cow dung, cow urine & water – mixed, stirred, fermented with patience. This natural pesticide then revives soil, feeds microbes and protects the plants from pests.

When women learn what the farms need, they learn to preserve it too. A food forest grows not from saplings alone, but with the hands that nurture their growth.

Here’s to women farmers who heal the soil and let the soil heal them back...naturally!
