Mariasadanam The first resident was accommodated with the family of Santhosh. Santhosh’s wife Mini handles the responsibility of Female patients in the home.

Mariyasadanam Pala is a registered NGO in Palai, Kerala that rescues, provides treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration of homeless people with mental illness The Mariasadanam Rehabilitation Centre started on March 14, 1998 as a humanitarian initiative of Santhosh Joseph with the intake of Thomas, a mentally insane destitute who was wandering in Palai town. With the increase in number of resid

ents given care at home, he re-modelled an abandoned cowshed for accommodating the growing number of destitute mentally ill people from the streets. These are people who became sick by birth, some who failed to cope up with the complex and highly competitive modern society and many who were thrown into the back yards of life by their own kith and kin. When our streets are being filled with so many of such persons, the conscientious and tender-hearted people feel the distress in their heart. Mariasadanam gives more importance to LOVE and CARE and the care givers in Mariasadanam believe that in the case of mental illness, more than medications it is love and care and a family atmosphere which play a major role in bringing the patients back to normalcy. The chief functionary, Santhosh, his spouse & their 5 children reside with the inmates as one big family. The Home is open to patients irrespective of religion and inmates are allowed to follow religious practice of their choice.

സാമ്പത്തികമായി പിന്നാക്കം നിൽക്കുന്ന കുടുംബത്തിന് സുരക്ഷിതമായ ഭവനം ഒരുക്കുന്നതിനായുള്ള സ്നേഹദീപം പദ്ധതിയുടെ 65-ാമത് സ്നേഹഭവനത്തിന്റെ കട്ടിള വെപ്പ് ചടങ്ങ് നടന്നു.

ഈ ഭവനത്തിന്റെ കട്ടിള വെപ്പ് Mariyasadanam Santhosh നിർവഹിച്ചു.

ശ്രീ. ജോസമോൻ മുണ്ടക്കലിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് ഭവനത്തിന്റെ നിർമ്മാണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ പുരോഗമിച്ചുവരുന്നത്.

സ്നേഹവും കരുണയും കൈകോർക്കുമ്പോൾ ഒരു കുടുംബത്തിന്റെ സ്വപ്നങ്ങൾക്ക് ചിറകുകൾ മുളയ്ക്കുന്നു. ഈ മഹത്തായ ദൗത്യത്തിന് പിന്തുണയും സഹകരണവും നൽകുന്ന എല്ലാ സുമനസ്സുകൾക്കും ഹൃദയം നിറഞ്ഞ നന്ദി.

👩‍⚕️📚 A Meaningful Learning Visit to Mariyasadanam

We were delighted to welcome the students and faculty from Kottayam Goverment Nursing College to Mariyasadanam Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre, Pala.

During their visit, the students had the opportunity to learn about our psychosocial rehabilitation services, interact with our residents, and gain firsthand insight into the importance of compassionate, person-centered mental health care. They also explored our rehabilitation programs and the holistic approach we follow to restore dignity, hope, and independence to people with psychosocial disabilities.

We sincerely thank the students and faculty for their keen interest, enthusiastic participation, and valuable time. We hope this visit has inspired them to continue serving humanity with compassion, empathy, and dedication in their future nursing careers.

Together, let us continue to promote mental health awareness and build a more inclusive and caring society. 💙

🏡 A New Beginning for Mr. Shamsudheen K. T. ❤️

In June 2023, Mr. Shamsudheen K. T. was admitted to Mariyasadanam, Pala, following mental health challenges. He was brought to our centre by his family under the leadership of Malayalam film actor Boban (Vesham fame).

Through the dedicated treatment, compassionate care, and psychosocial rehabilitation provided at Mariyasadanam, Mr. Shamsudheen made remarkable progress in his mental health. As part of his continued recovery and community reintegration, he was later shifted to Home Again, Mariyasadanam's community-based rehabilitation programme.

Today, his neighbours visited the Home Again residence, met him in person, and expressed great satisfaction with his current health and well-being. Moved by his positive recovery, they decided to take him back to his hometown and support his reintegration into society. They have generously offered to arrange a room for his accommodation and help him earn a livelihood by setting up a lottery ticket sales outlet.

This is more than a homecoming—it is a powerful reminder that with the right treatment, compassionate care, and community support, recovery is possible, and every individual deserves a second chance.

We wish Mr. Shamsudheen K. T. every success as he begins this new chapter of his life with renewed hope, confidence, and dignity. 🌸

ഇയാൾ , തന്റെ പേര് ആർ. എസ്. രാഘവൻ (ശ്രീനിവാസ്) എന്നാണ് അറിയിച്ചത്. ഡൽഹിയിൽ ജനിച്ച് വളർന്നതാണെന്നും മാതാപിതാക്കൾ മരണപ്പെട്ടതായും മറ്റ് ബന്ധുക്കളെക്കുറിച്ച് യാതൊരു വിവരവും ലഭ്യമല്ലെന്നും പറയുന്നു. ഡൽഹിയിലായിരുന്നു താമസമെന്നും പറയുന്നു.

🏠 A Homeless Man Finds Shelter at Mariyasadanam ❤️

A man who was found wandering in the Arunapuram area of Pala has been admitted to the Mariyasadanam Rehabilitation Centre by the Pala Police.

The man identified himself as R. S. Raghavan (Srinivas). He stated that he was born and brought up in Delhi, that both of his parents have passed away, and that he has no information about any other relatives. He also mentioned that he had been living in Delhi.

However, it is still unclear how he travelled from Delhi to Kerala, and no further personal details about him are currently available.

ഈരാറ്റുപേട്ട അരുവിത്തുറ സെന്റ് ജോർജ് കോളേജിന് സമീപം ഹരിതകർമ സേന ശേഖരിച്ചിരുന്ന മാലിന്യക്കൂമ്പാരത്തിനുള്ളിൽ അതീവ അവശനിലയിൽ കണ്ടെത്തിയ 57-കാരനായ വർഗീസിനെ പാലാ മരിയസദനത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചു.
ഏകദേശം ഒൻപത് ദിവസത്തോളമായി ഭക്ഷണം കഴിക്കാതിരുന്ന നിലയിലായിരുന്ന വർഗീസിനെ പ്രദേശവാസികളാണ് ആദ്യം ശ്രദ്ധയിൽപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. ഇയാളുടെ ബന്ധുക്കളെയോ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളെയോ സംബന്ധിച്ച യാതൊരു വിവരവും ഇതുവരെ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടില്ല.
ഇടുക്കി ജില്ലയിലെ ഏലപ്പാറ സ്വദേശിയാണെന്നാണ് പ്രാഥമിക വിവരം.
ഇയാളുടെ ഇരുകാലുകളിലും ശരീരത്തിന്റെ പിൻഭാഗത്തും ഗുരുതരമായ മുറിവുകൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നതായി അധികൃതർ അറിയിച്ചു. ഈരാറ്റുപേട്ട പോലീസ് സ്റ്റേഷനിലെ എസ്.ഐ.യുടെ നിർദേശപ്രകാരം ടീം എമർജൻസി കേരള പ്രവർത്തകരും ഈരാറ്റുപേട്ട മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റി കൗൺസിലറുടെയും നേതൃത്വത്തിലാണ് വർഗീസിനെ രക്ഷപ്പെടുത്തി പാലാ മരിയസദനത്തിലെത്തിച്ച് സംരക്ഷണവും തുടർചികിത്സയും ഉറപ്പാക്കിയത്.

A 57-year-old man, identified as Varghese, who was found in a critical condition inside a garbage dumping area maintained by the Haritha Karma Sena near St. George College, Aruvithura, Erattupetta, has been admitted to Mariyasadanam Psychosocial Rehabilitation Centre, Pala.

Local residents first noticed Varghese, who is believed to have gone without food for nearly nine days. No information about his relatives or family members has been obtained so far. Preliminary reports indicate that he is a native of Elappara in Idukki district.

According to officials, he had severe wounds on both legs and on the back of his body. Acting on the instructions of the Sub-Inspector of Erattupetta Police Station, Team Emergency Kerala, together with the Erattupetta Municipality Councillor, rescued him and shifted him to Mariyasadanam's Rehabilitation Centre for Homeless Persons, where he has been provided with shelter, medical care, and rehabilitation.

നിരവധി ആളുകളെ പുനരവസിപ്പിക്കുന്ന മരിയ സദനത്തിന്റെ പ്രവർത്തനം അഭിനന്ദനീയം ആണെന്നും തുടർന്നും കൂടുതൽ ആളുകളെ തിരികെ വീട്ടുകളിലേക്ക് എത്തിക്കാൻ മരിയ സദനത്തിനു സാധിക്കട്ടെ എന്നും ചെയർപേഴ്സൺ ദിയ ബിനു പുളിക്കകണ്ടം അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു. വാർഡ് കൗൺസിലർ ജിജി ബൈജു കൊല്ലംപറമ്പിൽ സിസ്റ്റർ എലിസബത്ത്, മരിയസദനം സന്തോഷ് തുടങ്ങിയവർ സംസാരിച്ചു.
ജോലിയുടെ ആവശ്യാര്‍ഥം കേരളത്തിലെത്തിയ രാജേഷ് മുര്‍മു, പാലാ കൊട്ടാരമറ്റം പ്രദേശത്തെ ഒരു വ്യാപാര സ്ഥാപനത്തിന്റെ പരിസരത്ത് മാനസിക അസ്വസ്ഥത പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുകയും പൊതുസ്ഥലത്ത് ബഹളം വെക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ പാലാ മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റി അധികൃതരുടെ ഇടപെടലിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് പാലാ മരിയസദനം യാചക പുനരധിവാസ കേന്ദ്രത്തില്‍ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
2025 ഡിസംബര്‍ 15 മുതല്‍ പാലാ മരിയസദനം സൈക്കോ-സോഷ്യല്‍ റീഹാബിലിറ്റേഷന്‍ സെന്ററില്‍ താമസിച്ചുവരികയായിരുന്ന രാജേഷ് മുര്‍മുവിന് ആവശ്യമായ പരിചരണവും കൗണ്‍സിലിംഗും നല്‍കിയതിനെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് കേരള സാമൂഹ്യനീതി വകുപ്പിന്റെ "പ്രത്യാശ" പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി സിസ്റ്റര്‍ എലിസബത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ വിശദമായ പുനരധിവാസ പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങള്‍ നടന്നു. ഇതിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കുടുംബവിവരങ്ങളും സ്വദേശ വിലാസവും കണ്ടെത്താന്‍ സാധിച്ചു.
ഭാര്യയും മൂന്ന് ആൺമക്കളുമുള്ള രാജേഷ് മുര്‍മുവിന്റെ സ്വദേശം പശ്ചിമ ബംഗാളിലെ ദക്ഷിണ ദിനാജ്പുര്‍ ജില്ലയിലെ ചാന്ദിപൂര്‍ (Chandipur) ആണെന്ന് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടുകയും ആവശ്യമായ ക്രമീകരണങ്ങള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത ശേഷം സിസ്റ്റര്‍ എലിസബത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സുരക്ഷിതമായി സ്വദേശത്തേക്ക് യാത്രയയച്ചു.
കുടുംബ പുനരൈക്യത്തിനും സമൂഹത്തിലേക്കുള്ള തിരിച്ചുവരവിനും പ്രാധാന്യം നല്‍കുന്ന പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുടെ മറ്റൊരു വിജയകരമായ ഉദാഹരണമായാണ് ഈ പുനരധിവാസ നടപടിയെ വിലയിരുത്തുന്നത് എന്ന് സന്തോഷ്‌ മരിയ സദനം പറഞ്ഞു.

🏠 Rajesh Murmu Returns Home with Hope 🤝

Rajesh Murmu (32), a migrant worker from West Bengal, has been successfully reunited with his family through the Prathyasha Rehabilitation Project led by Sr. Elizabeth at Mariyasadanam.

After receiving care, counselling, and rehabilitation, his family was traced and he was safely escorted back to his wife and three sons in Chandipur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal.

Pala Municipal Chairperson Diya Binu Pulikkakandam appreciated Mariyasadanam's continued efforts in reuniting homeless persons with their families and wished the team continued success in bringing more people back home.

Every reunion is a new beginning. ❤️
