A scarf gifted to me by celebrated writer Rakhshanda Jalil — a distinguished writer, literary historian, and translator — was borrowed by Saheba for her first day at college. As she begins her BA (History Honours) journey, the scarf carries a message of inspiration, encouraging her to embrace knowledge, creativity, and literature.

Saheba: The Flying Bird Who Turned Dreams into Reality

From the lanes of Okhla, Jamia Nagar, to the classrooms of Delhi University, Saheba’s journey is a story of courage, resilience, and dreams taking flight.

One of four daughters of Nazma, Saheba grew up witnessing her mother’s struggles and determination to educate her children. With no brother in the family, Nazma carried the responsibility and hopes of her daughters’ future throughout her life.

After a difficult Class 12 journey and discouragement from society, Saheba found a new direction at Aseem Asha Foundation. Through our Community Media Initiative — SANSHREY, she received professional training in filmmaking, script writing, photography, and visual storytelling.

Her dedication helped her clear the Delhi University ECA Film Making trial, earning her admission to Janki Devi Memorial College (Women), Karol Bagh, DU, where she is pursuing BA History (Hons).

Mentored by our media team and senior volunteer Tarun Yadav, Saheba has become a symbol of how creative education and guidance can transform lives.

Her story is a reminder — every young person deserves an opportunity to discover their wings.
