Road Ahead โ Reinventing Women-Led NGOs
The technical session on โRoad Ahead: Reinventing Women-Led NGOs,โ chaired by Ms. Rahmathunnissa A, Chairperson of TWEET, explored strategies to strengthen women-led NGOs and promote inclusive development.
Ms. Abha Rani, Chairperson and Managing Director of the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), highlighted the corporationโs flagship schemes promoting financial inclusion and livelihood opportunities for minority women, noting that nearly 90 percent of its beneficiaries are women. She also spoke about the PM Vikas Scheme and NMDFCโs new partnership with the State of Jharkhand, reaffirming its commitment to womenโs self-reliance and empowerment.
Ms. Samina Bano, Founder and CEO of the RightWalk Foundation, shared her journey from corporate leadership to social entrepreneurship, emphasizing her work in implementing the Right to Education (RTE) Act in Uttar Pradesh, which has enabled over one lakh children to access education.
Adv. Sana Siddiqui, Executive Director of Multiple Action Research Group (MARG), underscored the importance of equality, fraternity, and โinvisible leadership,โ urging women to assertively claim decision-making spaces while upholding dignity and self-agency.
Ms. Gargi Rawat, Senior News Anchor at NDTV, emphasized the role of communication and media in advancing womenโs empowerment, encouraging women and NGOs to amplify their narratives through alternative media platforms while recalling the crucial role NGOs played during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The session concluded by reaffirming that women-led NGOs must embrace financial inclusion, education, rights-based advocacy, and strategic communication to drive equitable and sustainable change.
