The Assam Mountaineering Association (AMA) successfully organized a trekking expedition to the scenic Jampui Hills of Tripura from 13th to 15th March 2026. A total of 43 participants from Assam took part in the expedition along with members of a local trekking team from Tripura.
The trekking route was challenging and adventurous, with steep sections and difficult terrain. In some stretches of the trail, the team had to fix ropes to ensure safe passage for the trekkers.
During the trek, particularly from the starting point up to the midway section, the team observed a considerable amount of litter such as empty water bottles, cans, and plastic waste scattered along the trail. Keeping in mind the responsibility of mountaineers towards nature, the trekkers of AMA voluntarily collected the garbage along the route, carrying it back with them under the motto “Keep the Mountains Clean.”
This initiative reflected the Association’s commitment not only to adventure activities but also to environmental awareness and mountain conservation.
