Parkshala™ is a Noida-based NGO dedicated to transforming lives of children who hail from the lower strata of the society. We work as an after-school support group to bridge the educational & moral gap between these children and their affluent peers. Further, we are trying to utilize already available resources for this purpose. So our lessons take place in community parks. Parkshala currently hel

ps around 90 students from classes V-XI. USP :
The brilliant thing about our education model is that our existing class XI students, who scored 8.5-10.0 CGPA in their X boards, teach our classes V-VII. They receive a monthly stipend. This keeps them in touch with their basics, helps them finance their own school tuition fees partially AND gives them a taste of financial independence! When dreams are exchanged for dowry, a childhood is lost.

🔹 Why it happens:

Poverty pushes families to see marriage as “security”

Lack of education limits choices and confidence

Social pressure and fear of stigma

Gender inequality and unsafe environments for girls

🔹 What can change it:

Keep girls in school — education delays marriage

Financial literacy and livelihood programs for families

Awareness drives in local communities

Safe spaces where girls can learn and lead

🔹 Because:
When opportunity replaces poverty, childhood replaces burden. 💛

Despite literacy improving from 64.8% in 2001 to 80.9% in 2023–24, India faces a critical teacher shortage—threatening the quality of education for millions of children.

✅ Solutions lie in:

Recruiting and training more qualified teachers, especially in rural & underserved areas

Investing in teacher capacity-building and continuous professional development

Ensuring better working conditions, timely salaries, and incentives to retain educators

Leveraging technology to support learning without replacing the role of teachers

Encouraging public–private partnerships to strengthen school infrastructure and staffing

🌍 Conclusion:
Without enough teachers, rising literacy rates risk becoming just a statistic. Bridging the teacher gap is essential to ensure every child in India receives not just schooling, but true education.

🚨 11+ lakh children in India at risk of child marriage (2023-24)
The NCPCR’s findings highlight how poverty, lack of education, gender inequality, and deep-rooted social norms continue to push children—especially girls—into early marriages.

✅ Solutions lie in:

Strengthening access to education and keeping girls in school

Expanding social support schemes for vulnerable families

Stronger community awareness & enforcement of laws against child marriage

Encouraging conversations around health, rights, and opportunities for girls

🌍 Conclusion:
Child marriage isn’t just a social issue—it’s a barrier to education, health, and economic progress. Ending it requires collective action from families, communities, and policymakers.

This Engineer’s Day, we would like to share the story of Vishvjeet — now working as an AI Engineer. Here is what he has to say:

“Since childhood, I was fascinated by technology — hardware, software, and, to be honest, mostly games. Back then, I believed anyone working with technology was a scientist because I didn’t yet know what a game developer or software engineer was. I just knew I wanted to be like them.

As I grew older, reality struck. Pursuing this dream seemed difficult, especially with financial challenges. That’s when life took a turn — I was introduced to Parkshala. At first, it was just exploration, following a friend, but it became one of the most defining parts of my journey.

After scoring well in my board exams, Priya di gave me an opportunity I could never have imagined — a 100% scholarship at Gyanshree, one of the most prestigious schools. For two years, I studied there without paying a single rupee. The exposure, experiences, and growth I gained will stay with me forever.

Later, I did well in my boards again, but since government engineering colleges don’t admit on board marks alone, I had to prepare for JEE. Once more, the financial hurdle stood in my way. Even loans didn’t work out. And once again, Parkshala stood beside me — funding my entire college fee.

Today, when I look back, I realize that without the constant support of Parkshala and Priya di, my dream of becoming an engineer might have remained just that — a dream.

On this Engineer’s Day, I feel deeply grateful. Becoming an engineer was once a distant dream, but today it is my reality — thanks to Parkshala.

Nearly two years of elevated food inflation in India is leaving less in the lunch boxes of impoverished children, as government funded school meals suffer cutbacks because of rising prices of vegetables, fruits and pulses.

Why does this happen?

1️⃣ Budget not revised despite high food inflation.

2️⃣ No automatic indexing of funds to inflation

Rigid central allocations, delayed revisions

3️⃣ Administrative burden on schools without resources

✅ Possible Solutions

1️⃣ Index mid-day meal budget to inflation annually

2️⃣ Source ingredients locally via farmers/SHGs

3️⃣ Allow states/districts funding flexibility

4️⃣ Conduct regular nutritional audits & monitoring

5️⃣ Use CSR & community partnerships for meal support

📌 Conclusion

The mid-day meal scheme, meant to nourish 120 million children, suffers because static budgets cannot match rising food costs. To protect children’s nutrition, India must link funding to inflation, empower local sourcing, and ensure transparent monitoring. Only then can this vital programme continue to fight hunger and support education effectively.

🚨 Free Education? Not Really!

Even with Maharashtra’s scheme for EWS girls, some colleges are still charging unlawful fees. Here’s why it’s happening and what can be done 👇

Why this happens:

Lack of awareness among students & parents about their rights

Misuse of power by institutions demanding “extra charges”

Fear & hesitation to file complaints

What’s the solution?

Stronger monitoring & accountability for colleges

Helplines and easier complaint systems for students

Awareness drives so families know the scheme benefits fully

Every girl deserves education without exploitation. 🎓✊

Rescue without care is another form of harm.

Recent reports have revealed serious lapses in the handling of girls rescued from a sexual exploitation racket, raising deep concerns about how survivors are treated post-rescue.

Why does this happen?

1. No immediate production before Child Welfare Committees

2. Poor coordination between police and NGOs

3. Gaps in following the Juvenile Justice Act

4. Lack of trauma-informed, survivor-first systems.

What can we do?

✅ Ensure rescued children are produced before CWC without delay

✅ Prioritise safe custody and emotional support
immediately after rescue

✅ Train officials on handling sensitive rescue cases with care

✅ Strengthen legal monitoring and accountability post-rescue.

Every rescue must lead to rehabilitation with dignity, access to education, and a safe environment to grow.

Vijayalakshmi Subbaraman — a name that didn’t just win titles… It shattered stereotypes.

From a tiny chessboard in Chennai to the world stage,
India’s first Woman Grandmaster made every move count. 💫

She didn’t just move pieces on a board — she moved a generation. ♟️👑

Started at just 3.5 years old.
By 17, she was a national champion.
By 2001 — she made history.

She played with courage. She led with grace. And in every move, she said - "Girls belong in every game".

Her victories were not just medals — They were milestones for every Indian girl watching, dreaming.

— the crown sits perfectly.

Dignity should never be optional.

In a disturbing incident, schoolgirls were allegedly forced to undress to check for period stains — a violation of both privacy and basic human rights.

Why does this happen?

1. Deep-rooted menstrual stigma.

2. Lack of awareness and empathy in schools.

3. Absence of gender-sensitivity training for staff.

4. Silence around period health and dignity.

What must change?

✅ Menstrual education in all schools

✅ Stronger student rights and anti-shaming policies

✅ Sensitisation for teachers and authorities

✅ Conversations that normalise — not punish — periods.

When schools become spaces of shame, we fail our children.

Let’s raise girls with dignity, not fear.

Let’s make space for periods — not punish them.
