Odissi Dance's Journey from Temples to the Stage: A Testament to Hard Work and Dedication: DG Hemant Jain

Faridabad. Internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Poulami Guha, who has mesmerized audiences worldwide with her brilliant and expressive performances, captivated the audience with her traditional and expressive style at the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) of the Ministry of Power, located in Sector 33. The cultural presentation, titled "An Evening Dedicated to Indian Culture," was held in the auditorium. It was attended by engineer trainees from NHPC, Grid India, and PFC, as well as officers, trainee engineers, and all MBA and PGDM students, under the guidance of NPTI Director General and Member (GO&D) of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Hemant Jain. The cultural evening was organized under the supervision of Dr. Indu Maheshwari, Principal Director (Training), and Dr. Vatsala Sharma, Director (Training), with the presence of Deputy Director Mahendra Singh, Deputy Director Rahul Pandey, and Assistant Director Anurag Rai, among other colleagues.

Coming from a culturally inclined family, Poulami was drawn to the arts of dance and music from a young age and received her first dance lessons at the tender age of five. She received her initial training in the Oriental form of dance under the guidance of renowned choreographer and artist Guru Shri Valmiki Banerjee. Poulami has also received training in Hindustani classical singing and Rabindra Sangeet under the expert guidance of her mother, Swagata Guha, a renowned singer and graded artist of All India Radio. Poulami has now showcased her talent in more than 30 countries. She was also featured as an Odissi dancer in a television documentary film, 'Dances of India,' directed by renowned dance experts Padma Bhushan Raja and Radha Reddy. Poulami's involvement with dance over the past three decades has helped her develop exceptional teaching skills, enabling her to become an inspiration for young talents.
