When disaster strikes, there are people who choose to move towards the crisis, bringing help, reassurance and hope to those who need it most.

For humanitarian relief workers, every day on the ground is an opportunity to help a family find safety, access essential supplies and take another step towards recovery.

Across our partner organisations, these relief workers navigate difficult conditions to reach communities affected by floods, cyclones and other disasters. From providing food and safe drinking water to hygiene essentials and other critical support, their work helps families get through some of their most difficult days.

And while they may not be able to solve every challenge, every family reached, every child protected and every life made a little easier makes their efforts worthwhile.

On , we celebrate the people who continue to show up for communities in times of crisis, often despite the challenges they face themselves.

Today, we honour their courage, compassion and commitment to making a difference when it matters most.

Isn’t it nice to break away from the chaos of busy schedules and long spreadsheets to do something that makes us happy and do a whole lot of good along the way?

The environmental champions of NLB Services did just that.

Through our 4000 Plantation Mission, Umeed Foundation curated a session that enabled them in creating green spaces which will give communities a place to slow down, breathe better and simply enjoy being around nature.

And it even inspired them to bring a little more green into their own spaces too.

Because sometimes, all we need is a little green corner in our balconies to slow down, breathe, and enjoy that cup of coffee or tea.

The Class 9 students of Good Samaritan School wasted no time following in the footsteps of their seniors.

Inspired by the excitement on the faces of their seniors, who had just returned from their plantation activity, these young champions hopped on a bus and headed to Jasola Park the very next day.

And they went one better! Braving the pouring rain, they planted a whopping 300 saplings, adding an even bigger green footprint to our 4000 Plantation Mission.

The seniors set the trend. The juniors took it up a notch!

The champions of Good Samaritan School wasted no time turning their words into action. After an exciting seed ball making session, more than a 100 marched on to plant some green goodness the very next day.

Under light showers and the cool monsoon breeze, they experienced the joy of connecting with nature and discovered a simple truth along the way: when you give, you often receive something far more special in return.

The floods are slowly receding, but with increasing exposure to disease, severe shortages of food and several other challenges, the people of Assam are still struggling to survive.

Seed Ball Z!!

The next chapter of our 4000 Plantation Mission took us to Good Samaritan School, where we brought together the next generation of environmental champions and equipped them with the knowledge and tools they need to take on climate change.

What remains now are mud stained remnants of a place they once called home. This is the reality for lakhs of people whose lives were shattered by the floods in Assam.

As many begin piecing their lives back together, they are met with even more challenges.

No food. No safe drinking water. Constant exposure to disease. And nights without a safe place to sleep.

In the midst of rising AQI levels, a Greener Gen is emerging.

As part of our 4000 Plantation Mission, we handed 90 students from Bharti Public School their very own saplings and rallied them to Sanjay Lake in Delhi, where they marched, crouched, and got their hands dirty before carefully tucking them into the ground. We even encouraged them to take ownership by raising funds for their own trees.

This hands-on experience, curated by Umeed Foundation, showed students the power of collective action in building a greener, cleaner tomorrow.

Within minutes, the screams of people were drowned by the sound of rushing waters.

The fury unleashed by the floods in Assam wiped out entire villages in the blink of an eye.

Before people could make sense of what was happening around them, they had already lost their homes, livelihoods, belongings, and for many, even their loved ones.

Lakhs have been displaced, and right now, countless families are struggling to survive without food, safe drinking water, shelter, and other basic necessities.

We at INDIAdonates are partnering with organisations that are on the frontlines of this disaster, risking their own lives to bring urgent relief to those who have survived the floods.
