I have stood quietly in Biodiversity Park, Noida for years.
People see me every day. But very few truly observe me.

I've watched birds build nests in my branches, butterflies dance past my leaves, and tiny insects make this place their home.

Then one morning, the breeze carried something unusual.
"Happy World Nature Conservation Day!" someone called out.

Soon, conversations about biodiversity filled the air, and students and volunteers arrived to play Nature Bingo.
For the first time in a long while, people didn't just walk past me.
They looked up.
They counted my leaves, listened to the birds I shelter, and discovered the little lives that have always existed around me.

As they spoke, I learned this journey had begun earlier—with a Waste Management Quiz that sparked curiosity about sustainability. Nature Bingo was simply the next chapter.

By the end of the day, I had witnessed something beautiful.
Not just people connecting with nature—but with each other.

Because conservation begins the moment we stop... and truly notice.

The most successful dustbin is the one that keeps filling up.

At first glance, a full dustbin might look like a problem.

To us, it tells a different story.

This dry waste collection bin was installed under one of our projects to give people a simple, accessible place to dispose of plastic wrappers, bottles, and other recyclable waste.

Today, it is regularly filled with waste.

Not because the area is getting dirtier, but because that waste is ending up where it belongs instead of being scattered across the streets, footpaths, or drains.

Every packet inside this cage is one less packet blocking a drain, one less piece of plastic entering a waterbody, and one more item that can be recovered and recycled.

A dustbin is more than a piece of infrastructure.

It is a small behaviour change intervention. When placed at the right location, maintained regularly, and supported by awareness, it becomes a powerful tool for keeping public spaces clean.

Clean cities are not built by installing more bins alone. They are built when people choose to use them.

Sometimes, the impact of a project is measured not by what you see inside the bin, but by what you don't see on the street.

It's just one plastic bag.

Said billions of people.

Every plastic bag is used just for a few minutes, but it stays in the environment for hundreds of years. Even after it disappears, it doesn't really go away—it breaks into microplastics that pollute our soil, rivers, oceans, and eventually, the food we eat.

Imagine if that one plastic bag were replaced with a cloth bag instead. A simple switch, repeated by millions.

It could prevent enormous amounts of plastic waste from entering our environment and help protect countless birds and marine animals.
