What does 8 years of making learning more accessible really look like?

It looks like classrooms where new possibilities open up.
It looks like students exploring, learning, and discovering in ways they couldn’t before.
It looks like teachers finding new ways to make learning inclusive.
And it looks like thousands of small moments that add up to something much bigger. ✨

“Understanding maps were always difficult for us…” — until we could feel them.

At Government Blind Residential Senior Secondary School Bikaner, Rajasthan, a 2.5-day Students & Teachers Training Session from 3rd–5th August 2026, brought together 74 students with visual impairment and 20 teachers, creating a space where Braille, tactile diagrams and hands-on activities turned concepts into experiences. This session was conducted under our Touch Learn and Shine 2.0 program supported by HCLFoundation.

Facilitated by Mr. Shivam and Mr. Irsad, the session is based on a straightforward concept: to introduce the available resources and their purpose to students and teachers. It aims to demonstrate how these resources can enhance existing learning methods, making them more effective, without excluding any concepts simply due to the lack of diagrams in textbooks.

For many junior students, it was their first encounter with tactile books.
Their curiosity was immediate — from exploring raised diagrams to enjoying colouring activities. Even primary-grade students confidently demonstrated their Braille reading skills. While exploring transportation, students began discussing how a car and a bus are different — showing how tactile learning can move beyond memorizing facts to understanding concepts.

Senior students took it a step further, using Braille alongside tactile diagrams to understand and interpret concepts independently. Then came the Activity Set — puzzles were solved, questions were answered and hands-on exploration turned the classroom into a space for discovery. The most memorable moment was the India Map Book. Students shared that maps had always been difficult to understand. But this time, they could trace, feel and explore them — making something once considered challenging much easier to comprehend.

The result?
✨ More questions.
✨ More exploration.
✨ More confidence.
✨ And a whole new way of experiencing learning.

Because accessibility isn’t simply about making learning available — it’s about making understanding possible.

“So… we can actually colour?”

That moment of surprise said it all.

At Dnyanjyoti Niwasi Andh Vidyalaya, Nagpur, two days of tactile learning turned curiosity into discovery on 30th & 31st July 2026 supported by Vision-Aid India Vision-Aid.

With 316 tactile kits and learning resources provided, 69 senior students, 13 junior students, and 8 teachers explored learning beyond words.

🗺️ Maps became something they could feel.
🧩 Activities became a way to challenge their thinking.
🎨 Colouring became a new possibility.
📊 Graphs became something they could create and understand.

For senior students, the tactile map book offered something they had never experienced before—a way to feel the physical boundaries of India rather than simply hear them described.

For the junior students, tactile colouring was the star of the session. What began with the belief that “visually impaired students can’t colour” quickly turned into smiles, exploration, and “Can we do another one?” moments.

And for teachers, the DIY Graph Kit, Geometry Kit, and Activity Sets opened up new possibilities for bringing tactile learning into everyday classrooms.

Because sometimes, one tactile line can change the way a student sees an entire concept.

With the help of the tactile geometry kits, students with visual impairment can construct and understand geometric shapes independently.” — a teacher’s feedback!

On 23rd & 24th July 2026, students at Atmajyoti Aawasiy Drishtiheen Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, explored tactile diagram books, puzzles, colouring activities, and hands-on learning resources during a two-day training session led by Mr. Shivam from RLF.

From discovering diagrams they had never used before to solving tactile puzzles independently and experimenting with geometry kits, the students experienced a new and exciting way of learning.

The puzzle activities were especially exciting for the students, helping them realise that visual impairment doesn’t have to limit their ability to create and express themselves.

With the support of Vision-Aid Vision-Aid India, 158 tactile kits and learning resources were provided, giving students and teachers more opportunities to explore Science, Mathematics, Geography, and beyond.

Because sometimes, the best way to understand a concept is to feel it, build it, and discover it yourself!

“Oh wow… colouring is so much fun!”

These little moments of excitement made our visit to Amritsar truly special!

We travelled to the Government Institute for the Blind, Amritsar, for a two-day hands-on training workshop on 24–25 July 2026, supported by Vision-Aid India Vision-Aid

For 16 junior students, 11 senior students, and 10 teachers, almost all the tactile resources introduced were completely new. From discovering tactile colouring for the first time to tracing India’s state boundaries through tactile maps, students explored, asked questions, and learned through touch.

With 141 tactile books and kits provided, the sessions opened up new ways to experience learning—while teachers explored how these resources can make classrooms more interactive, engaging, and inclusive.

Curiosity, colour, and hands-on discovery came alive at the Government Institute for the Blind, Panipat!

For many of our junior students, it was their first time exploring colouring through tactile resources—and their excitement said it all!

On 21 July 2026, as part of our Touch Learn & Shine program, supported by Vision-Aid India Vision-Aid, 86 students and 4 teachers joined a one-day interactive training session.

With 326 tactile kits and learning resources provided, students explored tactile diagram books, STEM tools and activity sets. From recognising letters and creating simple words to enthusiastically solving tactile puzzles, every activity brought a new opportunity to think, explore and create something new.

603 tactile resources, books, and kits were provided to 136 students as part of a two-day hands-on training session on tactile learning resources held on 17th & 18th June at Nethra Vidyalaya, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Conducted under our Touch Learn & Shine program with the support of Vision-Aid India Vision-Aid, the sessions focused on making learning more accessible, interactive, and engaging through tactile resources and hands-on activities.

We were also joined by Mr. Ramesh Kumar and Mr. Gowtham from the Vision Aid team, whose participation added valuable support to the training.
