⚠️USEFUL INFO: Today at the June Climate Meetings the for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD) will hold a side event on accessing the Fund.
What are our expectations?

⏰This event comes just five days before the June 15 deadline for developing countries to submit funding requests between 5-20 million USD under the Barbados Implementation Modalities (BIM) —the start up phase of the FRLD.

🗣️It will be a critical opportunity to hear updates from the FRLD on the number of funding requests received to date and the total value of these requests.

📈Previously the FRLD Secretariat has indicated that they expect close to 100 funding requests which could total as much as 1 billion USD —four times as much as the 250 million USD allocated to the BIM. 🤯

🚫💰With just 822.06 million USD pledged to the FRLD, 614.63 million USD turned into contributions (promises to pay) and only 457.16 million USD paid in, the FRLD risks running out of money in 2027 and will not be able to full all of the funding requests expected under the BIM unless developed countries hashtag ! ⚖️

📢Therefore we also hope to hear updates on the development of the draft stage 1 resource mobilization strategy (aka the plan to hashtag ) and expect to hear from developed countries that they have converted all remaining pledges into contributions.
