ACT (Anti-Corruption Team) is a confluence of Anti-Corruption Crusaders, RTI Activists, Lawyers, Concerned Citizen Groups & Individuals who have come together to build safe-guards against the emerging threats to Anti-Corruption Movements, Tools & Bodies. Despite a major Anti-Corruption movement that ignited India just a few years ago, we still just have a weak Lokpal Act, but even that weak Lokpal
has not been appointed till date. Most states have weak Lokayukt Acts but most have them either not appointed Lokayukts or appointed majorly compromised Lokayukts. RTI Law is also under serious threat due to weak & insufficient CIC’s /SIS’s as a result of which very little information is coming out under RTI. The Whistle Blower Notification brought due to the Supreme Court’s Orders has also not led anywhere due to a weak & ineffectual CVC. The Whistle Blower Act passed in 2014 has not yet been notified and attempts are afoot to kill it completely by amendments. Amendments are also afoot in Prevention of Corruption Act to weaken it by removing the clause related to criminal misconduct. The CBI continues to remain under the administrative control of Central Govt & the Police Agencies / CID / ACB’s under the state governments. Judicial process also remains lethargic and often corrupt. Time has therefore come for all Anti-Corruption Crusaders, Activists, Lawyers & Concerned Citizens to once again come together to discuss where we stand today, what are new emerging threats and what needs to be done to re-ignite a new rejuvenated Anti-Corruption Movement.
