: How can we accelerate the transition of Indian AgriTech from R&D pilots to large-scale market commercialisation?

At the Leadership Roundtable on Policy, Adoption & Market Access for Agri & Water Innovation, policymakers, corporates, research institutions, FPO ecosystem leaders, market linkage platforms, investors, and startup founders came together to discuss the structural shifts needed to accelerate commercialization at scale.

A key theme was the need to shift from a technology first to a problem first mindset, ensuring solutions are built around clear, farmer centric value propositions and real market needs.

The discussion also highlighted several priorities for the ecosystem:
→ The lack of standardized, machine readable data, including digitized land records, and poor quality grading standards for produce continue to act as major barriers to AI and ML scalability.
→ Current government procurement frameworks treat Deeptech like generic IT software. New approaches are needed that recognize the R&D risks, validation requirements, and longer gestation periods associated with Deeptech innovation.
→ Regional disparities in innovation must be addressed through targeted support for startups in the Northeast and emerging states, helping them access the same opportunities available in more established technology hubs.
→ Startups require access to patient capital, along with regulatory relaxations around the import of critical R&D machinery and chemical technologies needed for innovation and commercialization.

The roundtable reinforced the importance of aligning policy, capital, infrastructure, and market access to create stronger pathways for AgriTech to scale.
